I'm going to install a head I bought a couple of years ago.Do you have the stock number from mcmaster?I ran into the same hassle w/pro-tec as you did.Thanks.
Have to say thanks for the info-I used a digital caliper to measure my head(the one for the ski, that is) and the sizes came out to be exactly what 'crockett had posted. The trade size/number is -153.
Thanks to all!
Put a test lamp between the pos. term. on the starter and a good ground while hitting the start button. If the lamp illuminates, the problem may be either the starter or the ground lug on the rear of the starter.
It's not a c-3 head, though,it's a rec. head.I believe it takes the larger thickness o-ring(according to pro-tec's cat.)The head has no o-rings around the cooling jackets. This is new to me so I appreciate any help!
Title says all.I need to get new o-rings for my pro-tec yam. 701 head.I just found out that if you want pro-tec to send them to Canada, you have to fill out some sort of credit application/approval.Can anyone tell me who you deal with for these? Thanks!
So here's the deal...I bought a used pro-tec head(rec.) with a girdle kit,and I need to know a couple of things:
(1)Do I have to order new o-rings from pro-tec,or can I use proper sized
automotive-style ones
(2)What type of sealant is recommended for use around the water passages...
I've had the same problem with everything from my roundnose to a 'jammer. The tether/kill switch has 2 sets of contacts-one grounds the engine so it doesn't run,and the other completes the circuit for the starter. The switches are cleanable/repairable,and I have even used springs from bic lighters...
man,I love helmet cams!I can't believe how big riding still is in other places. It's all but extinct here-not sure if it's the lack of waves......or warm weather......or sunshine.....or all the unemployment.....or the young getting old way too fast.....you guys have it made-I'm so jealous!
I sent an e-mail(2) to coffman's earlier this week, but, still no reply.Jetting is kind of touchy,so I don't want to mess it up.
Oh,by the way, slopokegtp, didn't you just blow up yer YZF?Not an issue with exceeding the carrying capacity,I hope!
well,I finally got a ride w/my new coffman's lightning pipe,as I was dissappointed to say the least. It was bogging and stuttering like the was no tomorrow.I was under the impression that I didn't have to re-jet.Am I wrong? Is jetting necessary? If so,what should I go with?It is a stock twin-carb...
I learned to do a full sub about a year after I bought my roundnose, and after riding a 300sx for 4 or 5 years,it was well worth the full purchase price.I know the feeling-congrats!!!:Banane01:
