Custom/Hybrid Aluminum Hull?? is is practical?

I think the aluminum would dent pretty easily and pretty soon you would have a hull that was not much fun or not that easy to ride. I have seen many dented up Aluminum john boats. Sure it could be made strong but as Waternut said I think it would get heavier pretty quicky. If you are having...

    5200 on skin?

Once it is cured you pretty much have to give it time for the skin underneath to die and fall off. My best luck with cleanup when uncured is alcohol. I have 99% Isopropyl at work that I have used with pretty good success. It takes some time and will be absorbed through you skin. The best...

My first SXR 800...Looking for ideas/info for aftermarket intake for 2008 model.

Congrats on the SXR. I highly agree with DJ If it's your first standup save the $$, buy some extra fuel and ride. I'm still running the stock grate and I have run over plenty of stuff, In many repects I think the stock intake grates do a better job keeping the pump clean than aftermarkets.

    The pump discussion thread

The answer to you question is not as simple as bigger is better, or a bigger pump makes you ski go faster. From an engineering standpoint I would break a ski into several key components: The powerplant (engine), the intake area to the pump, the impeller, the fixed veins in the pump, and the...

Adhesive recommendation bonding aluminum to fiberglass - Liquid nails?

I'm not sure why by my local home depot stocks 5200 both standard and fast cure in a caulk gun size and I'm pretty sure it was less than $18 (definitely less than the marinas). They had it hiding in the paint section.

    Question on honing at home?!

I am not sure. I have always been told that the correct cross hatch angle is important to get the rings to seat properly. I personally think that the general deglazing and surface roughness is most important for ring seating. I think where the angle really matters is the long term tubrication...

    Question on honing at home?!

I have used the 3 stones and the flex and also rigid hones. Watch out for the 3 stone job as you draw it up near the top of the bore or at the bottom that is where they seem to get a little wild and break stones. Regardles of what style you use it is important to get the correct cross hatch...

    Wetjet Kraze

All the parts were provided free of charge. The parts that they sent us in the kit far exceeded the $500 we paid for the ski. At the time the ski was only a couple of years old also. Once we got it back together we ran it hard for years. The only maintenance issues were had were stupid...

    Wetjet Kraze

My dad bought a ~1995 kraze in pieces around 1996 for $500 we ordered some parts and when they came they didn't fit the ski. Called the parts company (i think it was someone out of minnesota doing parts for mastercraft) and they said "oh you don't have the campaign kit" we had no clue what...

    61x 701 seized, any advice?

Some extra oil straight down the carb once you get it running never hurts either. I have found the old 2 stroke Rotax oil works wonders at emulsifying water. Time is key because you are trying to push liquid water up through the transfer ports and out through the exhaust. Heat helps turn the...

SXR Handlepole topics (aka SXR pole)

I broke my SXR pole in the exact the same place. After I took it off and I was planning on reglassing the end but I found out that after the base/pivot broke off, the steering cable snatched tight and I actually broke the steering cable bracket off of the rest of the pole. Something you might...
