Took it for a decent ride today still 160 -160 . I purchased two OEM base gaskets so I measured the extra OEM .025 and the one that was blown was .020 at its thinnest spot
So I'm baffled

The battery was back on the charger while the head was back off. And its not the difference between cylinders I'm worried about.
Its the drop of 20 paid across the board after changing a blown base gasket with a new one.

I will take it out on Monday and check it again after riding it for a bit. I can see the base gasket changing the comp but 20psi seems excessive.

I am finally ready to ride my ski after shortening the pole and installing the new head.
compression with stock head 155 front 150 back
installed head 185 front 180 back
put it in the water started it and thanks to the fogging oil I easily noticed that the base gasket was leaking...
FWIW I have aftermarket flame arrestors and I had water injesttion issues until I got a set of waterproof "drychargers" from k/n

If you end up having to reshoot the clear on there all that you would need to do after you get all the rough stuff sanded is to shoot another coat or two of base on it before you start shooting clear again. otherwise you wont end up with a uniform color/texture under the clear
X2 for Maguires swirl remover. I got the race glaze two stage system for buffing out my truck and that stuff was just about worthless. the swirl remover too everything right out very easily
Thats why I told him to mix the last coat if he wants more shine. but for a jet ski a good quality single stage will do just fine. Only thing with single stage is that is you do really bad on the paint you cant buff it out to make it shine...
when I did my truck I did not do so hot. I had...
single stage does not get clear coat over top. 2 stage paint does and is also called base coat/clear coat. I just repainted my truck black last summer in my garage. I spent a lot of money teaching myself how to paint. I bought all of the Videos by Kevin Tetz and I could take a look at them...
