How should one go about removing the original insert if it needs to come out? Tap a left handed thread and tighten bolt? Since the flange does not have flats on it, how best to back it out?

Did you drill out the existing insert M6 thread with an 8mm Drill then install the self-threading mcmaster insert into the existing? Or do these completely replace the existing?

Thanks for the reply. I was able to salvage mine afterall (this time). If I ever need to replace the plate again, I'll need to machine also. Did you have to cut out the fiberglass or were you able to just thread your new ones in? How did you get the old ones out?
