    SuperJet Problem

Well we seem to have found a solution. Decided to go through the ski in stages to make sure we knew what had caused it, and after doing all the checks you'd expect to the pump, seals, bearings (and compression testing, crank etc for good measure). This was all absolutely fine and no problems...

    SuperJet Problem

Hi John. I will update the thread as soon as the ski's been to the workshop. I think we're going to take the pump out and check the seals, bearings etc. I'm also hoping to borrow a friend's Impros Hooker and see if a different prop corrects this top end loss of performance. A number of people...

    SuperJet Problem

I was generally aware of Solas pump/bearing issues so when i bought the pump I did also buy an AM bearing kit from the supplier specifically for the install. Yes the compression and timing are both stock, I have a stock head and stock electrics bud.

    SuperJet Problem

Thanks John, I'll do that. Yeah the three skis we set up are all 701s, mine is the only one with porting. The other two guys elected to go with a Hooker, one 9/15 the other 10/16.

    SuperJet Problem

I wonder if maybe the 13/18 C75 just isn't the right pitch still and it's the prop issue still.

    SuperJet Problem

There seemed a real good amount of compression Harbor, everything seemed snug as a bug and as it should have been! We didn't do a flashlight test, that sounds pretty ingenious. I hope yours does too bud, it really sucks when your ski worse after the install than it was before the install :(

    SuperJet Problem

Sorry, and we used a metal spacer ring I should've wrote.

    SuperJet Problem

We used the spacer ring from pump vein to reduction nozzle. Used sealer on all joints although not on the main seal as it was in very good condition. I'm not actually sure about the gap from prop vein to mag vein Schicks, would have to look. It's made even more annoying because me and a couple...

No we didn't. The pump seal looked in v good condition so we left it as is....

    SuperJet Problem

Hey guys. I have just fitted a 144mm Solas Mag Pump to my 2010 Superjet. The ski is 701, stock head, ported, with a B-Pipe, and it makes great power. Or did! After putting the pump on, I noticed that it was not reaching the usual top speed. Feels ok for the first half of the rev range but beyond...

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

Sure. The 13/18 and 14/19 and 12/20 suggestions I have been told to try have all referred to Skat impellers. And obviously you and I earlier in the thread talked about a 10/16 Hooker.

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

Yes, the only change is as you describe. Thrust said I would need a new prop at the same time as fitting a Solas as the additional load on the engine would require a different pitch to the prop I have on currently (a 2010 stock SJ prop). However, I thought I'd keep that prop on and just see how...

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

Thanks JetManiac, seems like that's the one to go for.

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

So after fitting the Solas Mag and keeping the stock 2010 SJ Prop to see how it performed, it seems the stock prop isn't going to be any good. From mid-range up to top speed there is a quite a lot of cavitation, and the top speed seems somewhat reduced. There are endless threads on here about...

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

Some interesting information here, thanks all. I wasn't aware keeping the existing stock prop would be an option, so if this can be done and doesn't minimise the Solas Mag's performance it would definitely be something I'd consider before throwing a few hundred bucks at a new prop.

    Sorry, and I'm running a lightly ported 701 62T.

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

Thanks for the replies guys. I currently have a stock 08+ prop, which I have been very happy with for the riding I do as described in the OP. I was told by Thrust when I enquired about this that while the stock 08+ props are large hub, they are not correctly pitched for a Solas mag- as they will...

Optimal Impeller for Solas Mag Pump

Howdy. Got a 2010 Superjet, lightly ported and with a B-Pipe and AM Waterbox. It's currently perfectly set up for mid-range to top speed flat water shenanigans, but I do also use it in the surf regularly for wave riding. Having used some Solas Mag Pump-equipped SJ's recently, seems a must-have...

Tubbies on a 2010 Superjet- worth it?

After having a search around the X, the best I could find was this thread with some really interesting info from Mark Gomez. There's some talk in that thread of removing sections of the rear bond rail although I can't find any further threads discussing whether anyone got this done or not...
