Just got it to start but I tried to kill the engine and it won't shut off so I choked the carb out

Will check that now! It started up last week just fine the I found a broken wire so I cut a soldered it. After that it started up but since surf a week ago it wont run

I have a 97 superjet and it fires up when I pour a little gas in the carb then dies. So it is probably just running off the fuel I'm putting in it. I canceled off the choke/on/res switches not sure if that messed with anything. It is a surf boat so I'm also wondering if a grain of sand is stuck...
