Freestyle Raider nozzle taper vs. SJ nozzle taper

A bunch of people use Raider nozzles for their trim system, and others weld bosses to their SJ nozzles to take the trim ring. The Raider nozzle is an easy, bolt-on option, but the taper is not the same as the SJ reduction nozzle. I've never really heard a good discussion about what the different...

Why is there a big red box that says "TEST" in my post?

    What's all that about...?

    Super Jet Dead crankshaft?

I just about want to throw up right now. Flywheel bolt came loose, punched through the stator cover. When I pulled it apart this is what I see on the front of my crankshaft. Any hope at all?

    Boat wake backy attempt

Well, I'm getting the nose in, but I see that I have to get my legs straight and my back arched to get the rotation cranked around the last bit. Still, I'm pretty pleased with progress since I only tried this for the first time last weekend. http://www.vimeo.com/11979637

My bilge pump tried to kill me....

I was practicing backflips today off the boat wake (well, practicing landing on my head anyway...). One time my ski was upside down, so I spun it over and just as the water hit the bilge pump i was taking a breath. The bilge pump outlet spewed lake water at 500gph straight into my mouth - I...

    It's alive!!! Finally.....

Ski is all back together and I fired her up for the first time tonight. I'm heading to the lake tomorrow to get a dose of brap from my new toy! I've got another few things to do before I post up pics of the whole build, but I couldn't help showing off my new power plant now that it's all up and...

    How "Superjet" is your Superjet?

People always ask me what kind of ski I have, and I say "it used to be a Superjet". That got me thinking about which parts of my ski are original and unmolested. I was a bit shocked at how small the list is, although I know others have shorter lists. Here are the things on my ski that are...

    Correct Power Valve Orientation?

Since I'm an engineer and I just can't help myself, I pulled out a power valve to see what they look like (it's what you do with your new PV motor when you haven't quite got on the water yet :bigok:) Anyway, the orientation seemed counter-intuitive to me (see photos). I guess I had thought...

Rear tow eye with 25mm under padding?

What do people do with the rear tow eye when using 25mm under padding? I ran the padding all the way to the back of the tray and then cut through the hole, but it's far too thick for the original eye to reach through without compressing the padding way too much for it to stay that way. Thoughts?

    Prop catching stator vanes

Just put new bearings in my pump, and putting it all together tonight I can't get the prop to seat down properly since it gets too close to the stator vanes and catches. Setup: Stock 144mm Yamaha pump Skat 14/19 large hub set back 3mm What do we think? Maybe the front bearing didn't...

NoNoNo!!! Did I just kill my headpipe?!

Clearancing for PVs and it looks like I'm breaking through. And it only just clears! Did I just cost myself a bunch of money?

Behold! The perfect one way valve

Yes, I do believe I have found it. There are two types of one way - a flap type (no better than a scupper) and a plunger type. The thing that has always worried me about the plunger type is that eventually the spring will rust and the valve won't spring closed anymore. Well, I found this...

    Steering cable end for CATS?

What steering cable end are you guys using with your CATS? It doesn't look like the stock cable end has enough throw and would therefore break.

Midshaft woes - this can't be good....

Yup - that's the entire rubber section detached from the housing. So, dead midshaft? Or 5200 and throw it back in?

Seized e-box brackets - any suggestions?

I'm not talking about the nuts - they span right off. But the stainless e-box bracket is actually seized on onto the lug on the e-box. I'm soaking with WD-40, but does anyone have any other suggestions? It's hard to add heat there because of the cable running out of the e-box close by, but I'm...

Stock water separator in fuel line?

Are people keeping the stock water separator in the fuel system when plumbing after-market carbs? I've seen some very elegant looking fuel plumbing, and I seem to think that some (many?) people do away with the separator. Seems like a good idea to keep it, which is I'm asking.

    Berky - great seller!

I just got home with my new toy - XS 822cc 8mm stroker which I bought used from Berky. Tem's a super-nice guy, and went above and beyond to make this sale easy for me - even chased down the right carbs and took them to XScream for me to get modded and jetted. Very straightforward to deal...
