I like it so far. My main interest is on slow speed handling. It's loose and flickable at slow speeds which makes it feel like a lighter boat. I have'nt mentioned how qucik it now steers. I can rollercoaster down the line of a wave with little steering. I can set up for turns and have it start...
Creatitivy is knowing how to hide your sources:shhh:
I think you have more control while carving and setups on a boat where you have your weight in a more neutral position. I also like how my wider ski has more stability at slower speeds. The Rickter is shorter but wider and seems to ride...
Ummm... Don't remove the bondrails:doh:
I think a fun handling boat would be to copy the rail shape of the 08 with tubbies but leave the pump location alone. I notice you ride standing in the back and use footholds, might be your setup or maybe your style:shrug:. If your considering chopping...
here's the 3rd ride in some chop. The boat is ridable and fun in areas. If I keep my weight in the middle and keep it flat it handles good. Gets weird when leaning back- tail drops, nose pops and lose stability. Still needs some refining.
Thanks Wavehog for the vid & Dslicker for the...
I'd like to try that 300 of yours :Banane35:
Made a sketch of what I'm thinking my issues are.(1) Add more to bondrail. (2+3) Leaning back when landing or coming out of turns the ski wants to pitch the nose quick. I spent some time carving around while looking back to watch what was...
It hooked up when need but with the ski floating/riding a little higher it was easy to get the pump out of the water. I was motoring down some swells in the inlet leaning with all my weight over the nose and unhooking the pump. It felt like doing burnouts on a street bike.
Our beach is loaded...
Nice... I notice the tractors it the garage are nicely dusted:crazy:
I've been working on making my SJ wider in spots and wondering if I should of started with a Octane. Can you show me a good pic of the bottom??? You guys got me thinking:sneaky:
Good work:arms:
The glass is not the problem it's the resin used then the prep. I would have filled the holes with something stronger than filler. I'm guessing your planing on layering glass on both sides. I know nothing about that smc filler and I'm curious what it's made from. Most fillers are porse power...
2nd ride went alot better. I was comfortable enough with the handling to play in some choppy surf. Ski floats and rides a little higher than befor but does'nt porpise as bad. It also rides with the nose lower the my last setup but does'nt nose dive as hard. Slow speed it's really fun. Staying in...
Not worried, not a big air type... I'm more into slow & low. My body needs to go to work the next day:biggthumpup:
That's what it wanted to do. It was like trying to set the rail in foam, the more I leaned forward the deeper it would go. The water was cold enough and it was frustrating that...
Little work on the rails today. I separated the cmc & glass and cleaned off the glue from the cmc part. The cmc line where the rails came off will be easy to follow. I glued some foam blocks along the rail and shaped to hang the rail in place. Next I need to fill the gap and reglass.
Here's...
Yea, think I'm only missing them in the front. The shape where the bond rail came off is the same and the cut off peices match. I've already pried the glass from the cmc on 1. I'm planing on gluing the cmc in place then I'll add the glass back.
Well it ends up I might need that bond rail. I liked it's attitude on plane. It's not nose high and does'nt porpise like befor. It's really loose and transistions nice from rail to rail until I lean forward. The nose wants to drop and pitch the boat. Oh well, I needed to know. I've already...
