760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Yes stock 760, 44 carbs, square body, stock manifold (v3 reeds), velocity stacks with cone air filters.. I did not fill the crossover. From the research I did having it open is slightly better for the low end.

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Tune day 2. I have the lowest B-Pipe screw open 3/4. Played with the top screw. Opening it up 1/4 turn feels slightly mushy. The bottom only open feels best. Tuned the carbs a bit more....my tach died today so I get to do it all again when the batteries show up. Low speed screw is better at...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Well it has been a year and I should check back in. I had my starter go out and while I waited for it I tore things all apart. My reeds were not perfect, so I replaced them with Vforce 3's, I could not find stock cages to replace. (probably why I could not tune it easily in the first place). My...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Well turns out I already have that exact pump the mikuni kit uses and I ripped it apart. I can swap out the gauge easily. So I have a 300 psi gauge I will grab a 30 and if I need higher it should only be $5-$10 bucks.

That is what should be in there. I will swap out to the 100psi version then.

While I am at it any suggestions for jet and spring kits or do I really need to order them one at a time?

Okay, ordering the 30 PSI version then.

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Well shoot, according to the chart I should be somewhere around 20psi, thought having the screws so far out it was high. Maybe just going to the bigger low speed jet would even it out. Not sure If I want to invest in a pop off gauge yet. Not going to get out to do any detailed testing today.

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Well my low speed adjusters are 2 1/2 out. So going by the group k write up, https://groupk.com/index.php/carburetor-fine-tuning-guide-advanced/, my pop off is too high. It also seems like a larger low speed jet will richen this up a tiny bit as well, point one waxhead. So I should adjust that...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

I have been doing more reading. I have a game plan. Ready..... Tune the carbs. As all the sites and instructions recommend. If for nothing else than peace of mind that it is functional optimally. We will see if the recommended settings are where I end up. These carbs seem a bit more straight...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

I'm in Tracy, California. Mostly Delta riding, some lakes. Tons of riders out here so far all super friendly. Feels like every other time I go out I get to ride a new ski. I smashed around in a super chicken a while back those things are wild.

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

I would love to ride a pumped machine like that, my wallet wouldn't though. My friends, 1500 is fun in a whole different way but is just so big and heavy, so riding something extra light with so much power would be awesome. To me the SJ feels like a skateboard and the SXR is kinda like a...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Is that why everyone is constantly blipping the throttle, to smooth out the punch when they don't want it?! I always thought they were trying to dump more gas in to get a bigger punch or something. Coming from dirtbikes, blipping is not the thing to do. It is all about throttle control so that...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

That comes off a bit harsh. I ride several times a week as work permits....and far from lazy. OMG is it ever. I have not stopped talking about it with my ski buddies since I first rode it. The only issue is I feel like I am missing some finesse you get from having more linearity. I am fine with...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

I suppose it could be. Like I said I appreciate the power and I am comfortable and can ride it great. I just feel like something is not right, or as good as it could be. I have ridden all sorts of two stokes and never felt anything like this. If this is how these things are, I am okay with it...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

I will say everything I have read said the bottom screw is the one I should have been messing with and not the top, yet it made it worse. Enough so I took it all apart and made sure the ports were free flowing and all equally functional, so I do think Wax is on to something.

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

No I have not done the exact tests. I absolutely will now though. Need this wind to calm down a bit, 15mph plus gusts makes things a bit variable. Some days I go pretty far out to get a burger, so I do try the throttle for long times at all positions. I was looking for hesitations at various...

760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

Interesting. I never had much fun tuning the old three jet 550's (BN38??) carb but these SBN's seem more straight forward. Not scared to give it a shot. You think the springs are about right? It seems like a larger low jet would probably even this out a bit and the jump to the high circuit...

If you get something even remotely linear, please keep me in the loop. If your motor can do it...any can! Jeez you built a freaking monster!

Okay this is good to hear. Nothing is particularly wrong here, just how the rippers are I guess. I am willing to give up some speed, but not pull, that is entirely too much fun.
