Super Jet Square nose wide trey build

Just posting som pictures of my build. Started as a stock 650 ski. I changed the prop and found out the trey was water logged. So I cut it apart and found it had been cut apart before and the work was sub par. Unfortunately I needed to cut more of the trey than I was wanting to get rid of all the previous repair work.
The plan is to wide trey and swap a 701 with a B pipe.

I ended up getting a deal on a new 4 stroke superjet stock take off pole. I used the factory pole mount and mounted it to the hull. Needed to move the hood mounts out to clear the new pole stuff. I shortened the pole a little. Took the spring out and just tightened the pole bolt. The hull had the classic s/n sag so I added a piece of angle iron aluminum with stainless steel bolts to strengthen and help straighten the hull.
For the steering cable I was able to mill a flat and drill and tap holes to use the stock s/n steering cable.
So far I love it but I want ovp in the future!IMG_0349.jpegIMG_0351.jpeg

Looks good! When is the wide tray getting done? Might as well just make it work for now and do it once it's cold.

Looks like Meldrum bar! Nice to see other riders in the area! I'm in Vancouver, It's been a few years since I've been a few years since I've been to Meldrum. I ride mostly on the Columbia these days.

Figured while I had it apart I should glass the sides. Had to move the exhaust down to clear the floor since I plan on the floor going all the way to the side walls.

Foamed the bottom and glassed the floor. I couldn’t re use the old floor since it was so damaged. I laid down 6 sheets of 1708. First layer covered the whole floor and went up the sides. 2nd just the floor to the edges. The next two I did one on the left to the middle and one on the right to the middle. The next layers I laid on to just went to the edges.

Next I did both sides. Foaming and glassing takes forever. Poor the foam wait shape and glass wait.. repeat over and over . Also I read online that the ribs in the engine bay have to go for the b pipe to fit correctly. So I ground them down and laid a sheet of 1708 in to help keep the hull strong.

Found out my new to me 701 had some pretty bad scoring after we took the exhaust off. So I had to source a new engine. I found a motor with new pistons and v force feeds for a decent price. I’ll rebuild this one in the future for a backup or something. Assuming it’s savable. Also got the turf job completed. Man turfing is a lot of work and definitely tries my patience. Made a few mistakes but overall pretty happy with the results.

Spent all night putting the 701 in. Fired right up and runs minty. Took her down for the maiden voyage the next day. Huge thanks to jetmaniac for the jets, water box and other small parts I ordered. The ski runs so good very crispy! HUGE improvement over the stock 650. It’s unbelievable how much more power and response the ski has!
