    FX1 won't stop cranking

Yep it was the solenoid. I forgot it was in the e box and not on the starter. I took it out and tapped it with a screwdriver and it freed up. It seems to be starting okay now. I'll just be really careful not to crank it too long until I can get a replacement solenoid. Is that something that I...

    FX1 won't stop cranking

I was having some trouble getting my FX1 started today and I had to crank it longer than I usually do. Somehow the starter got stuck on and now it won't stop cranking. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. Now as soon as I touch the battery cables to the terminal it will start...

    FX-1 Vibrates with RPM increase

I have done it both ways and pulling a complete engine with the manifolds still attached is definitely easier. You can do it with or without a hoist, that is up to you. I don't think it's particularly hard to pull it by hand but I lift weights regularly and I'm in pretty decent shape. I'd say a...

    FX-1 Vibrates with RPM increase

Stop riding it immediately before you destroy the bearings in the coupler and mid-shaft. You most likely need new motor mounts and if it is rocking back and forth that much you have probably broken something completely. You should be able to tell once you get it all apart. The engine has to come...

    FX-1 Vibrates with RPM increase

Have you already checked the prop and drive shaft for damage?

    FX-1 Vibrates with RPM increase

If the motor mounts were loose or worn the engine may have shifted in the mounts and thrown off the alignment with the midshaft coupler. I've heard that can cause a lot of vibration. Have you had any really hard jumps or falls lately?

    Original FX1 reference pictures

Lol I don't know how much cleaner I can get it, it already has three coats of wax on it. Good to know about the lanyard though. Just out of curiosity does anyone have a picture of what the original one looked like? Oh and here are the pictures of the FX1 stamp on the exhaust pipe and hull...

    Original FX1 reference pictures

I'm not sure why Yamaha just glued the ID tag on to the hull when it clearly has holes for rivets but apparently that is the way that it came

I found several places under the hood that are stamped FX1. The gas tank, exhaust pipe, and hull underneath the battery tray say FX1

    Original FX1 reference pictures

This is my 1995 Yamaha FX1. The original engine threw a rod and I put a stock 61X engine from my square nose Superjet into it. While I had it all apart I was really amazed at the condition that the rest of the ski was in. As far as I can tell it is all original and unmodified including the stock...

    Opinions and experience

I was very lucky to find an original unmodified FX1 in almost perfect condition on craigslist a few years ago. It is hands down the most fun ski that I have ever ridden. I started on a 550 and also have a square nose superjet and the FX1 is unquestionably better than both of them. As others have...
