Definitely. I'm reading air leaks or air in the fuel lines would do it? It was almost completely out of gas... It's an old ski and a tired engine. But I just put new gaskets & seals at the beginning of the summer. Leak down test is in order... I've also never blocked off the drain plug...

If you go the machine shop route let me know. Stuff like that becomes much cheaper when you buy multiple copies. If you know what you want technical wise I could put together a drawing package for the shop.

There are services where you can send out your current busted engine and they'll send you a re-furbished one in exchange. My google fu is failing me but they're out there. Alternatively you could find try to find a TS 650 on craigslist for cheap and pull the engine. That's the route I went...

You are correct, the plate is gone. The one side has the inlet, the other just looks like a brass plug.
