Reviving an old thread but this just happened to me on a flywheel bolt installed with 2 stroke oil on the threads.
I also didn't lap the flywheel to the crank snout with valve grinding compound like I should have.
There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it over...
You could rule out/bypass the carbs by dribbling premix straight down the spark plug holes and firing it up. Any chance the main carb diaphragms are in backwards? That would be an easy mistake to make.
Sounds like it could be a timing issue to me if its backfiring. You can pop the flywheel off...
Great thread man. It's a valiant effort saving these vintage 2 strokers. Nice job on the fiberglass patches - perfectly functional. Did you use Rustoleum appliance epoxy for rattle can?
So I tried everything mentioned and that paint was on there good, only thing that got a little bit off was a rough scrub pad combined with a chemical remover.
Ended up doing a quick respray and a couple Marinetex patches on impact damage spots. Better than it was, and good enough for a few...

Only looking for...
Father in law bought a pair of Kawi 750 couches from a junkyard on the cheap. One of them has a bunch of spraypaint work on the hood, seat, and plastic grab bar.
Anyone that's actually done this have a good recommendation on removing it? I can tell it's not well bonded because it's already...

Hopefully Eli and Hunter can bounce back quickly.
Went to the Glendale race last weekend and had a blast. Holding strong in 2nd place in the group!
Davies is looking great on the 250, sad to see JuJu go down those few times.
Good on Eli for winning one. Hope Jett is back soon so he can continue to battle the old timers!
Wetjet sitdown pipe turned and welded to fit a Yamaha Superjet. I had this in a 1995 Squarenose but should fit Roundnose skis as well.
Cheap power upgrade over the stock exhaust. Has a couple jb weld patches (never leaked that I noticed), and one of the six mounting bolt threads for the...
