I have a PS3 and it is a huge difference from the PS2. The remotes are wireless with no batteries. The good part is that it doesn't weigh much, the bad part is that when they die you have to plug them into the PS3 with the machine on. They just release new PS3 units with larger hard drives...

I use WD-40, but you have to be sure to wash off everything fairly quickly. Otherwise you will get more coming off than you wanted.
