Not a bad idea although I've had gas fumes from a 550 ignite with the hood off the ski. Bilge quit working, pulled to ramp, popped hood off and reached down to battery to check for loose wires and it sparked igniting fumes. Just lost a little arm hair that time, no boom! I usually pull the hoods...
