I think your right on this one. Foot placement makes all the difference with a rear chopped ski.

They are surf plugs, not chilling plugs!!! I wouldn't just chill in the water with any surf plug as they all leak water but if you want to chill Dave's are the only plug with caps to keep the water out. Here's my latest build for a customer. 20k in a blaster and it will have 701 surf plugs...

I've had no issues with my 701 surf plugs. I do clean them out on a regular basis. I've been running them for almost year. As for the rear chop. I suggest riding one before you chop it.

IMO if you don't want to spend the down time of glassing and still want keep the stock look, buy the 701 industries rocker kit. It installs in 15mins and works very well. As for glassed in rocker kits. I made my first rocker kit and shortened my ski 3.5" in the back and rode like a sport bike...
