yeah, that is probably your problem, I replaced the coils on my 550 a couple months ago, there isnt really room for electrical tape in there. Get some heat shrink and re do it right. It's kind of a pain to get back in there, so you might want to check your coils to see if they are still good...

while everything is shut off take the positive lead off the battery and rub it against the positive post on the battery, if there is any arcing (look closely) whatsoever, something is drawing off the battery. This is not as scientific as using a fluke, but it's fast.

I used an iron and a razor blade to get the stickers off and then goof off for the sticky stuff. The goof off works great if you stick a paper towel to the sticky residue and then poor some goof off onto the paper towel and let it sit for a bit. Then scrape the crud away with the razor blade.

Thanks guys, under the hood is nothing special, just a factory pipe and skat track impellar, team butch ride plate...no biggie. oh yeah, and a blown up waterbox as of today, but that's another post.

look up how to tie a bowline. not only will you use it for what you are describing, you will use it for all sorts of things.

If you are getting strong spark and good compression, try to dump just a little bit of premix in each cyl. it should start like that, even if it only runs for a second. the compression on my 550 is about 145 per cyl.

I dont think it is timing because it will run great for while and then instantly have no power. it doesnt pulsate it is a steady bog. It seems like it is electrical to me, but it might not be getting the proper amount of gas either. I just replaced the coils and it was pulsating with the bad...
