What year is your 550? If its one of the earlier ones when it started to come with the 44mm carb that is a known issue. There is a defect in the low speed circuit that dumps fuel in the intake when turned off. Next time it happens hold the throttle open when you try to restart it, if it fires...
Thats correct. With the kawi pumps you need to replace the whole thing. They do not have separate sections like yamaha. A mag pump will not help with low end, just hook up. Honestly the pro is the worst low end / least playful hull out there. To get more low end you are looking at replacing...
You need to tune both at the same time. If you turn one screw, turn the same one on the other carb. That is not a typical setup, so you will most likely need to experiment a bit to get it tuned correctly. Jets can be ordered from JetsRus.com
2k is probably about right to build that ski. $100 hull, $500 motor, $150 in turf. The rhaas pump conversion and a good impeller add another $1000. The thing I hate most about it is the single carb and 650 pipe. Easy to fix that but still, choking down that motor big time.
My SXi stays really dry on the inside, usually just a little moisture on the bottom after a day of riding. How much water do you get in the engine bay? I wouldnt think you should have any issues with those flame arrestors in normal circumstance.
Do some searches on PWC today about tuning the 3 jet carbs. Good thing is they are supposed to be better. Otherwise shoot a message to WMAZZ on pwctoday. He knows all about those and should be able to help you out.
