I've been reading this x2 section, but still would like all suggestions on mods / fixes.
School me on the X2 if you will. (already read the wiki)
The more I know the better.

I've always wanted one and got a good deal on this one which is all original, from the original owner..purchased new in 1993. Freshwater only.

What is this? and why should I be afraid to pull it?

crankcase drain, a slide gate that lets water out of the motor
good idea, but as it ages, once opened they stay open
and allow in air to lean out your motor
get a block off plate and do away with it!!

Wow, thats a nice one. X2 need all the usual bolt-ons, port work and careful tuning are a big plus. Your ignition should be ok, especially if it is a 3725 box. But most importantly these skis are now old and should get a full round of maintenance before any engine mods are done.

While your looking for crank vent blockoffs pick up an oil pump blockoff too so you can ditch the oil tank and run premix. Then you wont have to worry about an oil pump failing and losing the engine also.

The hull mods are nice. Tom21 sells a sponson set and a nose fill. The stock hull falls over for no reason at high speeds. Both of these mods help. You can also use sponsons masde for the superjet.

Aftermarket steering set ups are way better than stock.

The stock seat latch sucks. $5 worth of nylon and clips (like on a lifejacket) attached to or over the seat helps.

Anything that gives more power from your motor and driveline, or improves stability like a ride plate is obviously a good upgrade.

For freeride/freestyle most people stick with the stock plate and chop the rear 1.5"-3".

For racing/cruising I think the consensus is the best is a shredmaster?

Anyone know how the battery is held down on a x2?
Mine has no straps or anywhere to hook straps.

edit: looks like it uses some kind of screw down strap?
which i didn't get from the original owner.... it didn't come with a battery and they most likely forgot the straps.

there should be rubber straps that hook onto the battery tray. The areas where the tray notches out for the srews there are hooks molded into the under side of the tray.

the battery tray should have small hooks on the outside of the tray. The owner probably forgot to give them to you, they are rubber style straps that go over the battery, similar but smaller than the ones holding your gas tank.

Small hooks are right, I looked there twice and felt around...
I figured it was just like any jet ski.

Seen what you guys posted, went back and found them.
Used the straps of the old ladies XP, nice and tight.

Heading out soon for my first ever ride on a X2.

Well it ran good, floated, stayed dry.
Top end seemed lacking, compared to the 550.
But out of the hole it seems pretty good.

Anyways, were does a stock X2 piss out the hot water at?

There's a pisser on the front left of the boat. Follow the line that comes off the head pipe next to that pull plunger you had asked about.

Also, if it's the same stock pipe as my 650sx (which I am pretty sure it is), there is a second nipple that goes into the bottom of the pipe. I can't remember.... but I think that nipple went to a through hall fitting out the back... and some is emptied into the chamber for the waterbox. I'm not 100% on any of that.

The pisser on the front left ain't pissing =(
I rode it around 3 different times, after each time I checked the pipe and cylinders, which were only warm to the touch.

I guess I'll have to see if that line is clogged.
Anyone have anything else I can check?

A lot of water came out of the exhaust after loading it back on the trailer and starting it up for a few seconds.
But none out of the pisser when I was riding it... (Some water was coming out of the pisser under the seat)

Pisser and hose were clogged.

Did a compression test 149 and 143.

Can I run BR8ES in this ski? or should I stick with the BR7ES?
What is everyone running?

Thats not really a pisser, its the water draining from the little cubby compartments under the seat. where the fire extinguisher sits.

I usually run the BR8ES.
