Just finally got around to listening to the entire book on audio and was wondering if anyone else here has been thru it and what your thoughts were. I have always believed in Innate health and eating Organic only foods but becoming a Vegan or Vegetarian has never really crossed my mind till now.

The China Study gives critical, life-saving nutritional information for every health-seeker in America. But, it is much more; Dr. Campbell’s exposé of the research and medical establishment makes this book a fascinating read and one that could change the future for all of us. Every health care provider and researcher in the world must read it.

Eat To Live

This sums it up for me...
The research project culminated in a 20-year partnership of Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, a survey of diseases and lifestyle factors in rural China and Taiwan. More commonly known as the China Study, “this project eventually produced more than 8000 statistically significant associations between various dietary factors and disease.”

The findings? “People who ate the most animal-based foods got the most chronic disease … People who ate the most plant-based foods were the healthiest and tended to avoid chronic disease. These results could not be ignored,” said Dr. Campbell.

In The China Study, Dr. Campbell details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and also its ability to reduce or reverse the risk or effects of these deadly illnesses. The China Study also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and irresponsible scientists.

The China Study is not a diet book. Consumers are bombarded with conflicting messages regarding health and nutrition; the market is flooded with popular titles like The Atkins Diet and The South Beach Diet. The China Study cuts through the haze of misinformation and delivers an insightful message to anyone living with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and those concerned with the effects of aging. Additionally, he challenges the validity of these low-carb fad diets and issues a startling warning to their followers.

I have the entire book in MP3 format and can upload it to Mediafire if anyone is interested. It takes up 6 cd's and can be a bit dry but well worth the listen.

I might actually be interested in that. By no means am I vegan or even vegitarian but I've definitely been listening to many things on the relationship of meat and health. Something to do more research into I suppose.

Good find.

I felt the same way, I only wished I had listened to it a year ago when it was first given to me.

There are 70 MP3 files for a total of 281MB and my basic mediafire account is only 200MB. Any ideas on the best way to share this?

You can also buy the book for under $10 on Amazon or download the audio for $13. I went for Audio cause I spend 3 hrs a day in my vehicle and figure I should at least do something productive with the time. I have quite a few other health related series on MP3 as well that I can load up on my IPOD.

Have you read this study already?

nope....but I do know that lean protein is not evil. There is a difference between lean protein...and fatty protein. This book appears to call out the low carb craze....which would be most people that think it is ok to eat a fatty steak every night.

It briefly touches on the subject of low carb diets but really doesn't get too carried away with any opinions one way or the other. He is a scientist presenting his research results in a fashion for others to form their own opinions without a strong bias or agenda to push like most authors.

Because he doesn't push an opinion his book is very open to interpretation, which is why I started this thread. However, it's very hard to discuss the material when others have not read it.

Understood....my point is all animal based foods are not the same so to to say that people that eat animal based foods are not as healthy as people that eat plant based foods is like comparing apples to oranges.

The problem with a lot of our food now days is we live in an estrogen high society. You can also eat organic meat. Its a lot more expensive but its not pumped full of hormones. The vegan or vegetarian diets also have there adverse health effects. Chronic disease is not only fueled by the food we eat, it also has to do with where we live, how we work, stress levels, and other things we might be exposed to.

yup......a lot of people that I crossfit with buy local grass fed meat. If I had the storage space I would have went in on a cow with them.

We have been living off of the deer that my hubby killed this winter...super lean mean....and mighty tasty.

I upgraded my Mediafire account and am uploading the entire thing now.

Based on a few of the comments made already I think everyone subscribed will enjoy this report as much as I did. My health beliefs are very much in line with the opinions already given.

LOL, thanks Chris. I am always open for discussion but rarely debate. I consider myself more of a student, not a teacher.

I have always been health conscious but I had my eyes truly opened to health and the politics around health when I became part owner in a Wellness based Chiropractic Clinic a few years ago with my now ex-fiance. I had the opportunity to travel around to several health seminars and hear some fantastic speakers on the subject of Innate Wellness. (Dr. James Chestnut is still my all time favourite speaker).

I managed to get halfway through my Wellness Certification program before I decided to leave the clinic and pursue my own career further down here in the states. While I am very glad to be 4000 miles from my "Ex", I certainly miss being involved in health and wellness and all the information that came with it.

For me there is no real debate on diet. Just eat food. Food does not have a label.

P.S. This study has some very interesting findings concerning the effects of environmental toxins versus daily diet.

I used to be a personal trainer while I was competing, But the money sucked and I always went broke when prepping for contest. I was going to do a show in nov, but now have decided against it. I just train as a hobby now. I Love trying different routines, training types along with experimenting with different diets and such, just to piss my fiance off who is a nutrionist.

Debating now days is pointless, way too many ppl have way too many diet, training types that work for them. Everyone is different and each to their own. It does not hurt to be open minded though, why be narrow minded and hold yourself back from better health or well being just beacuse your stubborn.
