I will be int he market for a complete ski vynl scheme this winter after I'm done painting. I'm shooting the topdeck a new fresh bright white with base/clear and I'll be painting the bottom hull with single stage BLACK paint.

I'm looking for somethign abstract. Here are a few examples of thigns I like

I'm liking the way that Jason's hull was painted two tone and then inverted the colors. So far thats my plan for mine except with white/black. I'm just having a really hard problem with coming up with something I like.

I'm really into sharp edges and points for the graphics. Also may be willing to somehow incorporate a small bit of medium tint red into it.

It's a very rough photoshop but use this.

Thanks for the help. Jerry at Side Stage will be cutting the vynl for me, but I'm just looking into some ideas.

If I pick your design you will be rewarded with a framed picture of my ski and a autographed bootleg copy of Twangle View Of Havasu 3

thats what i did with mine. it looked awesome! .....until i put the new white gelcoat hood on it. it still does look really good, but ive caught my share of shyt of not painting it because the 10 yr old gelcoat is a 'little' darker than the new hood and nosepiece even after wetsanding and buffing. but, since the graphics catch your eye first, i dont care!:Banane01:

jesse, are you planning on doing the entire bottom of the hull in black or just the sides of the bottom? the reason i ask is because WHEN the black gets all scratched up on the bottom, its white scratches on black instead of white scratches on white.

designing graphics is a mother f'er. you might want to call paul at exotics and see if he can send you a graphic of your desired color scheme with some "stoyer-like" graphics. he'll know what youre talking about because jason came up with the original design concept that my ski is based on, too.:sneaky:

also, do your graphics before you clear. itll look and feel like custom paint instead of vinyl.

Clear does not like to stick to large pieces of vinyl does it? Also, vinyl sometimes tries to shrink with age & sunlight/heat and the clear will not.
couldn't it look like ass before long?

my old team scream square had clear over the graphics and it looked good when it was new. when i got rid of it, it had lots of cracking in the clear.... not just over the graphics, but over the paint too. i think if a flex agent gets added to the clear, and then a bonding agent sprayed onto the whole ski right before the clear is applied, he will have good luck with it. i know paul has all the details in how to prep it properly. i just opted not to do it since i didnt even paint the ski either.

you could be right though. painting/finishing is definately not my area of expertise.
