And the sh$#% storm continues....

The welded key lasted about 5 minutes :-( The basic problem was that the weld didn't penetrate the crank, and despite using filler rod our welder preferred to pull material off the key...basically making it more rounded off.

So I happened to find a key assortment at O'Reily Auto Parts. One of them was a tiny bit wider and taller than the stock Yamaha. It fit pretty good in my slutted out slots. I used a BUNCH of loc-tite on the crank snout, flywheel and flywheel bolt. I made a straight mark with a magic marker across the flywheel bolt and the flywheel so I could judge if it moved.

I took it out today for about 20 minutes and it didn't budge. I've got a slight carburetor problem..I am either too rich or too lean on the low end. If I cruise around on the low end stuff for more than a few seconds it starts to sputter. I'm not sure if it is loading up on fuel...or leaning out. I'll turn the low speed screws in next time and see if it gets better or worse.

That leads me to my new problem. HOLY COW THING RIPS. I can't jump and can't do anything. It RIPS the impeller free at anything over 1/3rd throttle.

IMPROS for the FAIL BTW. I ordered a new Hooker impeller weeks ago. Originally it was supposed to ship 3 day select so I could have it by the weekend...um that weekend was June 5th. So I talked to Paige last week and she said it would ship on Wednesday so I asked to 2nd day air it so I could have it by the 12th.

Today is the 15th and that impeller STILL isn't here.

If it doesn't show up by Wednesday I think I have an old Solas race impeller that is like a 17/21 or something ridiculous like that. The way this thing is RIPPING this Solas 13/18 (or 14/17 (I forget)) free I think it won't have much trouble with the 17/21.

Oh an a HUGE thanks to TEAM SCREAM!! They had a 8mm stroker crank in stock (and sold it to me). Yes, right now I don't need it...but I know my luck..if no one had a 8mm stroker crank in stock them my crap would have broken within 2 seconds. Now that I have a spare I'll probably never need it..haha.

I am glad to hear it finally seems to run well.

When you get to taking the crank out, I'll see what I can do about getting the crank snout replaced for you.

What? WHat? What???? No impeller? You too?

Well Im glad to see your back up and running brotha.
Now what was your welder guy thinking to only do a fuse weld to that key? When you swap out that crank rotate that keyway 180 degree's, or replace the snout.

I was more focused on getting some material between the key and the worn- out keyway, and didn't notice I was pulling material off the key itself. It was a sketchy fix at best, and neither of us really expected it to hold very long.
We figured it was worth a try though since the alternative was a 5 week wait. BTW, I don't think the loc-tite will hold very long either, actually it has held up 19 min longer than I expected.

But at least Aaron got out on the water today... I'm sitting here waiting on real pistons and new domes.

Who is Paige? Last time I checked Dave was IMPROS. He is who you should have talked to. Paige may just be a part time student who answers the phone.

As far as any product shipping. It should ship if they are in stock. If they are still at the forger (not sure that the correct name), when they come out of the castings, they get sent to a polisher. Then they are ready to ship out.

I have talked with Dave many times. These props are a hot item. You can call him and ask him about them, he may tell you he has them, you say "Hey, I will call you back and let you know, you can ship immediately right?", "Sure". Then you buyer waits a day or so and calls back to order, but the 2 props he did have on the shelf were sold between the time you hung up and the time you called back (however long that may be.)

I ordered one from Dave a few months back, had it in 5 days. He had it in stock, shipped it out that day.

Lots of good excuses for Dave there...but none of them apply.

Dave told me both impellers were in stock. One had to be machined to fit a Magnum 140 but would be done on Monday the 1st of June.

I did not hesitate to pay or place the order. I gave Dave my credit card information immediately.

Paige is who answered last time and she asked DAVE when my stuff would ship.

Just popped out a scenario. I order stuff every day for work. I never place orders or check on the status with the secretary. Talk to the person that can get it done. (Granted, I have contractors that I do deal with the secretaries, they are the ones to get something done).

You don't even know that she is only the secretary. If she asks Dave and he answers, I'd consider that just "Asking Dave."

When you call your girlfriend (or wife) and one of her friends picks up the phone, do you ask her to ask your GF/Wife if there is a chance you may get some that night or do you personally speak to your GF.

My point, pick up the phone, call and talk to Dave personally. Stress to him that you need the prop shipped out. Granted, I dont know the circumstances as to why it did not ship out (that between you and him). If he had to to send he should have. No excuse for that. I have done business with dave for about 5 years now. He typically goes the extra mile. Sometimes he is slow depending on the time of year.

if my GF (or wife) worked in a brothel - I could see this as a valid scenario.

However - if I call Impros, and talk to Paige - I expect to be taken care of.

Just like when I call X-Scream and speak to Radney - and he sends me what I need.

same situation.
