Just starting out

Ok so heres the deal. I have been riding my friends kawi 650 for a couple weeks so ive decided i want a stand up. I have been readin up on the forums for a bit and understand superjets are the best for freestylin/ having fun. So i bought a 94 sj hull. I am in the process of glassing over the nose and my footholds and turf just came in. My outside is basically planned out but im tryin to budget this under 1200. and i already have 500 in it. Since im not that great at riding yet will it make a huge difference if i put a 650 6m6 in it or should i save a bit more wait 2 weeks and throw a 701 61x or 62t im kinda stuck here i dont know what to do.... any inpuy would help.. Thanks..

In that case should i shave the ribs and reinforce inside the hull while its open? I already have the resin just need the fiberglass or cf ... but cf is expensive

Get the 701 hands down. You're going to want one in there halfway through the season anyway. Two weeks is nothing. I wouldn't worry about reinforcing yet. If you want to get it out of the way while your hulls stripped then go ahead but how long does it take to pull your engine/tank/waterbox etc? Maybe an hour if you work slow. Just ride it for now, reinforcing's overrated.

i hear ya on that one, i only did the sides on my ski.

when you reinforce the ski and you still smash the poop out of it you have alot more grinding and work to fix it

Bilge pump, shorten the pole or get a shortened turnplate, wet wolf cone is good for how much it is, limiting rope (a must), d-cut stock ride plate, mill the head (higher comp.) exhaust if you can find one cheap (factory b is awesome but any will be better than stock and definitly get a new impeller (ring impros)

P.S. welcome and be prepaired to spend all your money on your ski :Banane36:

dont bother with the pump cone water of money but i would shorten the pole, turnplate, mill the head, d cut, straight bars, prop (12/17 skat big hub) intake grate worx is good

there are others but i cant think of any more

yea but if i can get a 61x for a good price and build up the top end it would be fine correct?

theres a reason why everyone is running the 62t

im not a motorhead but there on this site somewhere so im sure they will tell you why

all i know is that fuel flows better with the 62t]

just dont make any decisions to quick

The 61x is a single carb motor (94-95), while the 62t is a dual carb motor with better flowing cases (96-current). Both have the same cylinder. 62t is a better platform hands down, but a well built 61x with a single carb is easy to tune and a fine beginners platform.
