So I am going to build a big bore motor this winter and was thinking about selling my complete motor and buying some used cases and a new hotrods crank so everything would be new. Is this a good option or should I just use my 2000 crank and cases? how are the hotrods cranks? I found a new one for $355 also if I buy all new parts I am going to need bolts... is there a bolt kit I can buy or can sombody supply me with the case bolts im gonna need. one more, what is the difference between the 701 and 760 cases? THANKS

Just my opinion:
If you're going through the expense of building a bigbore motor, why chance it on the crank? Do it right and get a new or newly rebuilt crank.

760 cases have bigger openings for the cylinder sleeve bottoms, and they have either bosses for two pulse fittings or they do have two pulse fittings (can't remember which)

go to Atlantic jet sports for your crank and piston needs I just bought mine from there 597 for every interal part pistons bearing and crank (it realy is a complete rebuild kit)

Who is building your motor? I would talk to the chosen builder. He'll set you straight on what you need.

Why sell your complete engine and purchase used parts?

I'd just use your existing 62T/61X setup and make it a big bore engine with a new Hot Rods crank.

The only difference between the 62T cases and 760 is an extra pulse fitting.

the only part of the old engine i would be using is the case. thought it may be better to keep the engine for a backup or sell it to fund some parts.... maybe not

I have a hot rods crank been real good for two years. I did have to put a couple bearings on it over summer when a wrist pin bearing let loose but other than that no problems I would purchase another.

I think I heard something like 300 hours on a Hotrods crank and 500 on an OEM.... So sure they dont last as long but for the price you can buy 2 HR and still be cheaper and last longer than OEM....

I have gone HR more than once, never OEM....

so i just got off the phone with Chuck and the guys at team scream about doing my motor. They have real good things to say and I think I trust them fully Its just that they want to go SO extreme. They want to big bore, port, epoxy and port the cases, make custom reed cages with kawi cores, custom cut an ADA head, sell me therir modified 44s or 46s, modify all 3 parts of my B pipe... All in all a 771 chucky build 771 is $4000. I am looking to spend about half that. I would like to do everything they say 1. because I belive them to be the best and 2. I really want Chuckys technical support especialy with jetting. I want them to do the machine work but Im not sure I really need the case porting, the read setup, their carbs ( I found a nice set of 46 buckshots for 325). If its not huge gains I would like to leave those few things out. How much am i REALLY lossing by not doing the case porting, going with other carbs, and not using their $700 reed setup. I trust those guys, I just dont want to spend $4000 on the motor if I can get close with $2000.
