replace an pwc engine with a diesel engine

Hey guys,

I need to know what would be the best way to build a diesel pwc from an old hull. Or just how would it work to replace an existing engine with a diesel engine. I would really like to build one just to say I can. It would probably not be legal on any lakes.

Thanks in advance

Why wouldn't it be legal?

How big of a diesel engine would it take to produce 60 hp? Would that engine fit?

What's the biggest engine you can fit in said old hull?

Let's not worry about how fast it will go, just if it'll work.

too heavy! a 60 horse kubota or yanmar probably weighs close to 4-500 lbs, maybe more

a 30hp turbo yanmar boat engine may work

OK, let's concentrate on weight and size.

Anyone know what the biggest diesel engine U can fit in a sitdown hull?

I figured he'd use a sitdown hull since it's bigger.

Diesel engines do produce a lot of torque down low but it would never rev up quick enough for a jet-ski application.

Also the bearings wouldn't last very long due to the higher compression ratio.
