Telescoping trailer neck ?????

I am going against all that is sacred in the realm of sports cars and installing a hitch on my camaro. :icon16: I want to make the camaro more versitile so I can use it for all my needs. My problem is it makes close to 400hp and is absolute crap in wet, snow and muddy conditions. So if I use it to tow my ski I need to make sure I keep it as far away from slippery conditions as possible such as a wet, steep ramp. The ramp where I usually put in should be OK. Trips should be fine as well b/c there are typically pleanty of people around to lend a helping hand with a beach cart or carrying the ski to the water.

I was thinking of having a square tube w/in a square tube. Maybe have (3) 2-4in guide peices along the middle of the trailer so the neck can lock in the extended and normal positions.

Any suggestions are welcome and/or if anyone else has done this please post some pics to help me get a game plan together.

a friend of mine had a 96-97 Camaro with the same engine, he just had an regular hitch installed on it. No problems pulling his 550 out of the water with it.

Most ramps will not be a problem but a steep wet ramp with the weight of a ski on the back might get me sliding backwards. That would suck. I saw a guy at our local ramp do that to a mustang when the ramp was wet. He just did not have that space to recover and kept sliding back. By the time he knew he was in trouble he hit the alage line and it was all over.

Instead of extending the trailer neck why not build a beach cart into the trailer.
I never wait in line at boat ramps (usually launch from the beach) but when I do go to the ramp I go directly to the parking lot.
Get my gear on and roll the ski over to the water.
Than I get to sit back for a while and watch all the morons try to unload their boats.

Here's how it works.

The black hull is just 2 rattle cans of appliance epoxy sprayed over barely scuffed SMC.
Zero prep work and about a week of drying time makes that stuff last a while.
When it does get beaten up too much I just run over it with a hand sander and some 220 grit and respray.

Top 10 ideas on the x? Sounds like a great idea! Someone should start a thread on this topic.

I'm flattered but this idea was born out of pure laziness and nothing else.
With so many great ideas on here I doubt my would be in the top 100.
