i do like your ski btw!!..looks nice..however i think fixed steering severly limits your options..good for airs no good for surfriding..the biggest advantage of a pole is the ability to lower and raise your center of gravity..cant slash the lip standing upright

right on bro- thx. I'd have to respectfully disagree with your airs vs. surfridin comment though. I''ve got no serious skills to speak of, but I'm working on my surf riding. The rippage in surf riding factor on the fixed steering is pretty underestimated and often overlooked IMO. Have you ridden one by chance? It's not a B1 either. With that said, I don't see it replacing pole skis any time soon either for that matter. Perhaps, it be more fair to say that it's an attractive and awesome alternative that could help evolutionize/ grow the sport. I personally like to have options and look forward to somebody out there providing some more.

for sure man...i think it would be really cool for alot of stuff but i just dont see it replacing pole skis for surfriding.thats all...mabye deamon will let me take a spin on his..maybe ill change my mind...its just that alot of turns/reentries are done best with the pole on the hood..it just seems it may be topheavy in some situations..like i said cool ski..good to see guys doing someting different..i was just commenting on crackers blanket statement..

you can take it for a spin. I'd like an honest opinion from a good surf rider.
Nearly all of my riding for the last 4-6 months (not really that much time on the water though) has been surf slashing so I'll be looking for pointers. I get low in the tray at times, I get hunched over the hood (like in your avatar) too. just cause the bars don't move doesn't mean I don't.
I've been looking at yours and taylors pics to get some style ideas. it's something I'm working on for sure.

I have also found the same, you are forced to move your body around a lot more on fixed steering. It may just be a surf slashing weekend....

I resisted riding Tims for over a year, it just looked funny and very uncomfortable to ride. like I'd be stooped over. I was wrong.
its very comfortable, you can ask the few that have them. and recently Wahoo let everyone in our group take it for a spin at the causeway. Feels just like a superjet and then take away having to hold then bar and be concious of were it is and where you want it. its similar to cranking the pole down so its stationary.
I feel I have more control. but you would have to ride one and judge for yourself.

do you get the same amount of throw in the bars or is it less like accustear on an x2??

hmm. that is a good question. if you wanted aquick turn type setup you could machine the stops so the bars didn't move much and then drill the cable far out on the end. I think Wahoos turns pretty close to what a UMI feel like on a sj, not short like the accusteer on an x-2. But I did have to put the cable on farther out to make it stop to stop. It also throws more now.

I think there is a lot of throw. the accusteer on an x2 is very limited compaired to this.

I rode one about 4 years ago and personally didnt like it too much, but then again I could barely ride a stand up at that time. I'd love to ride one again to see how I like it now.

yea last time i rode my buddies x2 i couldnt get over the lack of throw in the bars...id just tip over when i went to turn...:banghead:
It does take a little getting use to, coming off a yami. I go back and forth now with no problems.

I rode one in Havasu the year Maros came out with it. In fact it was probably Reed's hood that I rode (WOW, I just thought of that - it was a white hood if I remember right). It was on Chris's personal ski. I really liked it, but felt it was better suited for surf, aside from carving wicked aggressive turns due to the riding position and leverage from the fixed bars.
Can't wait to try one in the surf this weekend! :fingersx:

Not sure why you say that, mine weighs exactly the same as my reinforced roundy. Only problem I have found is it won't turn as quickly or sharp as my round. I was kinda surprised noone exept Suva took it out for a spin at Pismo, it sat on the beach most the time.
