Some parties have expressed interest in trying a new location for the Spring 2008 ride. This poll is to gauge that interest.

We'll need more info on Port A. and possible spots on SPI (I almost put "near all the drunk teenagers"). I know cdubb and other Austinites have ridden at Port A, maybe they can chime in.

The only thing that will get me to move out of Penguin's backyard is
SURF
I dont know if we are going to find anything better surfwise in the Gulf of Mexico

Need firsthand info about:
Port A
Corpus
SPI

I would drive 30 hours and sleep in my truck for some decent surf

Would you drive 30? Come on to Pismo!!

I "hear" surf better the further south. Looking at the patterns on WaveWatch, as the swell flow in from the Atlantic into the Gulf towards Mex, I believe it.

Surfside is ok. Plenty of ugly chem plants to look at. Surf is about the same as Crystal. No ferry to deal with.

I think the SPI surf is the best along the coast. The down side is the campers would be separated by a few miles from the house renters. Crystal Beach has a pretty nice setup, keeping everyone within drinking distance of each other.

I'll save some typing, same reply/argument I had before:

I vote that we keep it as-is.

We have a location at Crystal Beach that has proven to be PWC friendly, with Penguin's place as a home base and plenty of other houses around that are inexpensive to rent. And I dont think we need to be exposed to a large spring break crowd. IMO, we would either be lost in the crowd and/or hassled by the law for riding in a crowded area.... (not a problem at CB.)

And frankly, I don't want to drive any further. As it stands now, Pismo is only about 200 miles further from my house, total... and the surf is much better. Make the Texas ride further away and I'm less likely to go...

And really... is the surf gonna be that much better?... doubtful

I vote: IT AINT BROKE.... you know the rest.

I did the damage Tuesday night I already had the parts Wen afternoon but the time to do the install blah blah blah I didn't have till Sat. evening and then to drive all the way out and have to turn back to be back here Monday by 10 wouldn't have worked out. Thanks tho!
