What do you glasses wearers do??

I wear contacts and they are a huge pain. Everytime water gets in my eyes they move and i cant see. I wear sunglasses with a floating band now and its better but still a pain. What kind of contacts do you guys wear? I was thinking about trying a splash guard even cause everytime water splashes i cant see anything. I spend half the time on the lake playing with my eyes not riding.

Trust me. 'Spex' goggles are the thing you need! I love them. The design of these are unique. General splash doesn't touch your eyes at all, the water sheds down the inside lense surface and not your face/eye. You can pic them up from Barts or Overtones for aprox $45. Good for splash (not totally sealed). When you submarine pull them down (around your neck) before you set up for that trick. You'll blast them off, although they float.

I wear contacts and sometimes a pair of cheap sunglasses, but usually try to avoid the sunglasses because they get water spots and then I can't see. My contacts are disposable, so if I lose one, its not a big deal (but have yet to lose any). I keep glasses in the car so I can drive home should I lose a lens on the water.

I have worn contacts on the water going on three years. Two years I had no problems at all, then the first ride of this season I had a contact go behind my eye. No problem, just rub my eye around until I find it then put it back on. I've never lost a contact before though.

The 'Spex' are non-perscription. Someone would purchase them if they wore contact lenses and wanted to eliminate the 'splash in the face problem'. I would call your eye doctor and tell him the issue. They may have some slick/new technology solution for you.

Oh.. Ok i was misunderstanding what they were saying. I was talking about the glasses you see when you go into a glasses shop that are supposedly used for soccer and football and they have a wide band that goes all the way around your head and are perscription.

as a mainly ocean rider, and a blind s.o.b. i wear contacts, and a somewhat cheap pair of sunglasses, i got a pair of uv rated, polarized sunglasses from the bass pro shops for 30.00! the strap is also a float for them in case they come off. also use rain x on the sunglasses and it helps keep the water spots off them. i also have a pair of sunglasses that have a foam cushion on the inside so when you get slapped in the face with water it does'nt dig into your skin. got those at a motorcycle shop for like 12.00. they a clear, amber and smoke lens that you can change out.

You can get Spex as prescription lenses, you have to have your Doc send them a scrip. Contact them directly, not through Overton's for the Rx lenses. That's what my hubby did for his. He has since switched to contacts and the regular Spex, though, which is what I've been doing all along. Much cheaper this way.

Only lost a lens once, years ago, in 10 years of riding with this combo. I keep spares with me. Still have some trouble seeing through water spots, but Sea Drops work well to minimize this. I got it from Campmor.com for a few bucks. I have friends that use contacts and cheap sunglasses. Most of us now wear helmets when we ride and the Spex will go on underneath the helmet if you're careful putting the helmet on. Helmet also holds the sunglasses on fairly well if you have a strap on them.

I got a pair; vision is great in the sun; colors are messed up a bit, though :)

I love 'em, except for the fact it makes my eyes look wierd.

Campmor! :hail::hail::hail:
Their only shop is on Rt.17 in Paramus, NJ, I used to spend a few hours of lunch break there, it's always crowded and they sell the coolest stuff!
Too bad I'm about 70 miles from them now, but I still check the website and one of my turtles gets their catalog every few weeks in mail, LOL!

21 eh?

That's not nice of me. That's your sister we're talking about.

I have hard contacts. They come out easily so I do not wear them in the water.

Main reason of my post, is to stomp the myth about contacts going behind your eye. It is impossible for the contact to go behind your eyes. There are muscles connected to your eye ball, that is what makes them move. The contact can only go back as far as the muscle and then it cannot go back any farther. Say it goes to the top of your eye as far as it can go, if you look down, you can still see the edge of the contact. It can get pretty far back there, but not to the point you can't get it out and defenatly not behind the eye.

I used to wear contacts. I've also worn many different types of contacts as I was a contact study tester. Some contacts will fit great and stay put and some will move at the slightest touch.

On the water contacts were a bit of a pain in the ass depending on what kind I was wearing. I got laser eye surgery almost 2 years ago and it's been one of the greatest things ever. One of the best things I've noticed is that I don't have to wipe the water away from my eyes immediately after coming out of the water.

I was 23 when I got it done. I qualified at 18 but they wanted me to finish school since my eyes would still be changing. Looking back, I despise contacts and glasses. It was such a simple procedure I don't see how anyone would not want to do it.
