Round Nose Comming together

I finally finished reinforcing the inside. We now layed a pice of glass over the entire bottom of the ski as well as removed the pump shoe and the pump stuffer.

I got it painted as well as some other things done, but I am still a few weeks out. Waiting on damn vendors that dont do what they say and or ship to the wrong address or don't ship at all. Frusraiting. Oh well life goes on.

She is finally done and ready to hit the lake to be dialed in. After 4 months and hundreds of hours it is finally time to ride. Thanks to all that helped. Willie, Billy, Jason, Kurt, Paul the list goes on and on. It will all be worth it in the end.

Curt learned it all from you. Can't thank you enough for all that you have done and taught me over the years. It came out pretty damn good in the end, now it is just ready to get beat on. Let the fun begin.

Man am i jealous. I've been waiting 2.5 months for my paint job :banghead: to be finished, i guess he is super busy. Should have it Monday i hope.

My paint job was a $60 spray gun from Lowes $100 in paint and my imagination. I had never painted anything before and I say what the hell I will give it a try. It came out pretty damn good in my opinion for my first job especially since it was sprayed outside. No booth here just wing it what do you have to loose.

Out of curiosity did you add "Flex addative" to the paint? I heard that adding a bunch of it makes the paint dry slower, but it ends up being almost like a gel-coat.

VERY nice job by the way. If it was for sale next year I would probably buy it. I have already maxed out my budjet for skis this year.... I may consider trying a similar project myself... I guess it just depends on how bored I get this winter.

Is there a good ski to start doing work on? I hear the FX1 or something like that is the best superjet... I could be totally wrong... don't know that much about them yet, but since I see you obviously do I figured you may know the best year/model to modify. Later.

you only need a flex agent when painting very flexible plastic stuff usually... I have never used it on skis

There is a curtain amount of flex agent in all base coat clear coat paints, but not enough IMO for painting a ski, I have seen 4 different skis painted by 4 different people w/ base/clear paint that had hairline crack in paint like w/ 15hrs of riding. This has been on both heavily reinforder boats and non reinforced boats too.

Do the single stage paints like Imron or something simular not do this?

A FX1 and a Superjet are two totally different skis...... most prefer the Superjet if they could only have one :brap:
