OK, I have my shiny new XMetal pole, and I had the foresight to crack my stock hood in the Cherry Buster at Daytona, so now I'm in the market for a new hood. I'd like to hear everyone's opinions and recommendations.

I'm a flat water rider, so the hood is as much something to cling to as keep my motor warm and dry when I get to ride surf or, more usually, jump cruiser wakes. I'm looking for good value, but I don't want to see stress cracks starting right away.

I've posted all the hoods I know about in the poll, in roughly descending price order. Did I miss any? What are your opinions/recommendations?

(I should add that my budget probably starts about half way down the list!!)

The 24-7 was (maybe still is) the best fit, weight, thickness and looks to me. I'm not sure what mark knows, but i sure wouldnt want to be the guinea pig. As far as current, i'm partial to the WDK hood because of the price, and look. The key to a flatwater hood is the fit. I've heard multiple horror stories about blowsion, and the price is rediculous. I've read about the wammer lining cracking a few times. I've never seen or used a WCF hood, but im sure steve will do you right.

24-7 for me if I could afford it (too much do$h for me though. The carbon sr71 is over 2k) That thing is sexy, low n light weight. I have a wammer hood but it has a few stress cracks in it.
Jeff sent me some stuff a few weeks ago, very nice. Check out the dawg.

How short is your pole now?:sneaky:

24/7 hoods by Maros were nice but rediculous in price IMO. If I were to buy a hood now a days I would have to go ATP prepreg carbon (if price was no option) or a Waterdawg Diablo hood.

Don't forget about the XFT X-7 hood (can you add that to your poll?).
I am BLOWN AWAY by how cool mine is.
13 lb glass version, and 6 lb carbon version.
It has a 1" lip that hangs down into the engine compartment, as well as an SX-R style seal on the hood to compliment the SJ style seal on the hull.
Plus, the hood liner is pretty nifty.

The price and delivery is something to consider too.

I plan on buying another one for my next boat.

So far the Wammer is holding up on mine. If I could afford it I would go 24/7. Back in December he ran a $1000 special for hood and nose pc. WDK is cheap as is Legdrags, Jeff @ WDK will stand behind his forever no sure about LD's.
