I like dual carbs.

I have been running a single 46 (stock) on my 840 Kawi for for the last year and decided it was time to see if duals were better. I got a set of 44's (stock) and an R&D maniflold in perfect condition off ebay for $180 and strapped them on. With the jets it came with (110 L and 135 H 2.3NS 19 psi pop off) it is stronger than the single 46 was. It isn't earth shattering but it is definatly snappier in the middle, right where I want it. I am still going to do some tuning and hope there is a litle more brap in them.

I did notice that even though I run stock yamaha single carb spark arrestors it does affect the motor more when it gets wet. I really have to work the throttle on and off to get it to clean out if I mess up and take it in deep nose first. It is only a problem if I screw up bad on a flatwater or lobster boat wave roll attempt and stab it 12 feet deep. The single carb would hickup but it wold blow it out with a little full throttle run.

I have a set of SRE 46's that I want to try after I get the stock 44's figured out. They have the extra jet in them that I was told just to plug and run it with the standard high and low style jets. It also has the shower holes all the way around the bore with no bomb sight in the middle. I really have no clue what they are good for but my buddy said I could try them until he wanted them back.

Keep us posted, my sorces tell me that stock SXR carbs work well also, and have by far the most trouble free linkage setup. We need to figure out if the spacing would allow using a Blaster F/A for dual 44's. That might be the ticket. BTW Pete, what exhaust manifold are you running? Factory Pipe can't seem to tell me why the limited 750 manifold won't work.

The linkage that came on mine is pretty sweet. Just a little plastic cogged wheel thing. I just flipped the throttle puller over and put on a top pull fuel pump throttle cable bracket you can order from Hot products. It really isn't hard to get on and off. I think I have better access to the nuts than a superjet has with the rear exhaust tube in the way.

And I use stock yamaha single carb flame arestors. It was a pretty easy swap. I just bent my EXTRA long quick steer arm up a touch to get the cable to miss the top of the spark arrestor.

from wot i can tell crap they do have the same bolt pattern where they bolt on to the manafold but they have a dirrernt angle at which they bolt on . the 650 one tucks the pipe back and in alot more and the 750 on moves the pipe out closer to the side if the ski if that makes and sence . when i find my digatal cam ill sit the two manafolds side by side so you can see the diffrence

i found my camrea crab and here is a pic off the 2 manafolds side by side so you can see the diffrence ,you can se the 750 manafold (bolted to the engine) angles towards the front off the ski alot more than the 650 one(im holding the 650) . im going to put the 750 wet limited wet pipe on my x2 and try it when i get my motor back soon so ill be able to tell you how they fit then . hope ive been some help . sorry about the tread jack pete

Contact Kevin Collins at Legdrag.com, he can help you with the jetting, he use to work for SRE

Sweet! I just started doing business with Legdrag.com. He is a cool guy. He is letting me test fit a TBM pump cone on my X2 pump.

That 750 manifold comparison is very informative.

Just an FYI: the SJ headpipe and 650 kawi headpipe are the same except the kawi headpipe has a built in lift of about 3/4 of an inch where it bolts on to the headpipe. This requires longer headpipe bolts. It is also useful information for guys running powervalve cylinders since it would give way more clearance witht he taller kawi headpipe. I have run both headpipes in the X2.

the kawasaki header pipe used to be the one to run on your 650 superjets and a fx1 chamber
the loger header pipe was awesome and the fx1 chamber made it rev on a bit better

I :cheer: REALLY:cheer: like dual carbs now! I just tried a set of 46 SRE carbs and they SMOKE my standard 44's and the single 46. My motor sounds totally different now. It is like an F1 car when you blip the throttle on the trailer. Super quick throttle response. Legdrag.com told me to find the smallest possible jet for the 3rd channel. It had a 40 in it from the SXR race boat it was in and I found a 25 at an old school bike shop that had Mikuni dirt bike jets. I did have to go to Tau Ceti spark arrestors since the Yamaha boxes don't fit on Mod carbs. It never sucked water but I didn't stuff it very bad today.

Wow finially after all this times and these debates
people are starting to realise that a well set up set of twin carbs is alot better

For next season I am going SXR intake, carbs, F/A in my small pin X1 project. I want to get a handle on some easy to tune carbs before going bigger.
X1, re-styled X2, passengers not allowed.

And just so you know the TBM cone is almost a perfect fit. It would be usable out of the box with longer screws in the rear sction where it threads into the old pump cone holes but I might make a spacer just to support te space where it is 1/4" gap from the hub. It looks like the oring will seat enough to do the job though. I will get some pictures up soon.
