I don't know, whenever. It was actually the first prepreg hull that he laid up, he just needs to really focus on it for a few more days to finish it :skull2:

looks good, I didnt know he was even makeing those plates, sweet!!!!

Not sure if he had the d-cut plates or not. I told him what I wanted, gave him a couple of measurements and it came out great. He probably has either a templte or mold of this plate in his shop.

Sweet! I like your story. You layed up the hull personally 10 months ago, and you're still waiting on it. :haha:

I do think it'll be one hell of a ski.

Ninja edit: And I might add, I received my WD footholds less than a week after placing my order.

OK the more accurate weights I got on the plates:

Waterdawg composite plate: 1.65 lbs

Aluminum Protec plate: 4.35 lbs probably over 5 if it was not cut flush with the hull and had the d-shape hacked out of the back.

hmmm shaved another 2.5#

The numbers do not lie. When you hold the two plates it feels like the composite plate is 5 pounds lighter but in achuality I guess that is not the case. Still......every little bit helps.

What is the definition of prepreg hull

Prepreg is the material that is used to lay-up the hull and requires allot of prep work to make a final product. Prepreg itself is where the cloth being used has already been pre-impregnated with a specific amount of resin. The cloth varies. It can be glass, kevlar carbon ect. The reason that prepreg is a good method is b/c it keeps the cloth to resin ratio low or optimum. A cloth is rated to particular value and in most cases when the resin content surpasses that value the part does not get any stronger, just heavier. The cloth is laid in the mold, vacume bagged and autoclaved (bakes in oven) to activate the resin. For the ultimate in lightweight a core material is used. What that does is substitute a solid glass core with a honeycomb material. Same principal as prepreg, less material the lighter the weight. Making a light part is all about the resin content and prepreg is a precise (but expensive) way of controlling the resin/cloth ratio.

The ride plate is not prepreg. Just a composite plate with a layer of carbon for asthetic purposes.

here is a better illustration of what prepreg is: http://www.queenford.8m.com/hoodprepregbuild.htm
