SXR Ebox question

I recently purchased an sxr that I am modding up as a high speed lake runner. It came with a factory pipe on it. Out of the e box there is what looks like a sensor that once went into the stock chamber or pipe that was just tied off. Is this sensor for over heating? Can it be unplugged in the e box to eliminate some of the wires?

There was an overheat sensor and an air temp sensor. You should be able to disconnect the wires inside. If not, just cut them with the battery disconnected.

I have an 07 yamaha r1 sitting around. Was wondering if a street bike engine has ever been converted into a stand up? I am just wondering how you would get the power to the pump?

on certain years SXR, Factory had you install a bypass plug on the air temp sensor connector to get a timing bump. On other years, you couldn't use the bypass and had to just disconnect the air temp sensor (but didn't get the timing bump).

The instructions at factorypipe.com will tell you what you need to know.

I have ridden a 2010 SXR with an 1100cc streetbike motor in it. It wasn't dialed in at all but it had alot of potential.

Talked to a friend of mine, they put a gsxr motor into a sea too xp. Says they didn't need to run the 6 speed tranny. lol. Going to talk to him tonight and see how well it worked out.

Did you look under the hood? Was the output shaft on the motor just hooked directly up to the pump?

He yanked the stock motor, dropped in the 1100 with a custom bedplate and coupler shaft and left absolutely everything else as it was. He didn't have nearly enough pump to take advantage of the revs that thing will put out so it wasn't near as quick as I expected but the thing had legs and just kept winding up more and more just like a 4 stroke sled does.

He had it in an X2 the summer before and it was even worse. Stock X2 pump and impeller so it woudl max out the revs in like 100 ft.

I wonder if the tunnel on the sxr is big enough with a larger pump to push through enough water to be efficient enough to make it worth while?

Not with a street bike engine rated at 14000 rpm but why not do the 1100 out of a Kawi couch? I was talking to John at JSS tonight and he is absolutely swamped doing ignition modules for SXR 1100 conversions for World Finals. He said that it has been stupid lately how many guys are doing it so it must be a good mod.

Ive considered that as well. I have also thought of putting the r1 motor in a mini buggy style frame and roll cage that I started building out of chrome molly awhile back.
