Other Power Sonic battery review

No he will not!
It's time to give my review of Power-Sonic Super Sport batteries. I've been running a PTX20LBS-FS since about March 2010, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. I've been running TL and spent many weekends running it 2-3 days between charges with no problems at all. Ski starts strong each and every time and the battery seems to be holding up well to normal ski related abuse. They also have several smaller versions for you "small battery" guys, you can see all their specs here: http://www.power-sonic.com/images/powersonic/powersports/1256783492_2008_Battery_Specifications.pdf

They also have some pretty slick chargers, The Battery Sitter. Check it out: http://www.power-sonic.com/powersport_battery_sitter.php Lots of good info about charging batteries there.

To find out how to get one contact Kathy at http://www.power-sonic.com/images/powersonic/sales_network/Kathy_Peterson.pdf

I highly recommend Power-Sonic Super Sport batteries and Batter Sitter chargers :Banane25:

That is a pretty beastly battery though. If it won't crank your ski at the end of a weekend, there are other issues. I've been running a Deka ETX16L for a couple years now with total loss. It's a couple pounds heavier though. I do like the fact that I can be utterly lazy and run the battery without charging for 2-3 days without so much as a hiccup but man that battery is a tank!! My summer weekends typically involve 3-4 gallons of gas and 3-4 hours of running my 800gph bilge pump per day. I always forget to turn the bilge back on when I stop to talk so I just leave it on until I get out of the water at the end of the day.

I just shot Kathy an email asking her to compare/contrast the PTX20LBS-FS and the CB16CL-B.

The CB is three pounds lighter but only has 10 CCA's less.

Thanks for the heads up, Parr.

Awesome, let us know what you find out.

I attached a pic of my battery.

One thing I see, the CB16CL-B weight listed is w/o acid. Not sure if acid adds 3lbs, but I'd bet it's close.

If you're burning 5 gallons in 45 minutes, you must be racing. If so, you probably don't start the ski all that often and that's what really kills the battery. Maintaining ignition doesn't drain the battery all that much.

I use Jetworks batteries and can go on a 3 day freeride on a single battery and charge and burn 25 gallons of fuel in that 3 day ride. (The battery is getting weak at the end of the 3rd day). T/L is not as big of a drain as some people think. I feel confident these batteries would give the same performance as what i have now. Parr would not reccomend a inferior product!

I have probably only run 10-15 gallons on a charge, but my weekends consist of a ton of start/stop cycles. Like others said, if you're blowing through 5 gallons in less than an hour, you're probably only starting your ski a few times. I would guess you could run 20+ gallons on a full charge???

havent had the chance to race yet, just alot of bouy chasing/freeriding. just a well built 750 with a sbn46.(its ported pretty heavily and has 220psi) x2's are heavy and like a trying to make a plow go fast, hard to get that quick snap off bottom, even with all the hull mods. front fill/v-hull kinda and i do keep the throttle pinned.

WOW, you need a new battery for sure! 1 tank/45 minutes should be easy for a battery IMO...... You need to email Kathy, kpeterson@power-sonic.com

Thanks Gil!

I am only tellin it like it is and NOBODY can argue the point!
If I am not mistaken the last aftermarket item you pushed was the Thrust Innovations trim system that ALOT of us are still running today and still love! Simply put, the products that you promote are not flash in the pan crap that is here today and gone tomorrow. Why do you think I call you for advice?

Hey, you run what your wallet allows you to run at the time. I had 1 Jetworks battery that lasted 5 years and had a neverstart for a backup. From time to time I would drop the neverstart in just to keep it going and it would only last a day max. Unfortunately batteries are like everything else in life, you get what you pay for.
I am a service director at a couple of Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealerships and it blows my mind daily at some of the junk batteries I see on the market. We have some crap available to us at a dealer cost of 19.95 that carries a taillight warranty and usually don't make it 6 months before they are shot.
