It opens up once you release the straps. Very simple design.

Ok got it. The center piece is cut out. On the bottom half the turf acts like a hinge. Straps hold it together. Sound right?

The turf is not the hinge. It has webbing glassed into the two halves to hold it together. The covers the hinge so it looks like the turf is the hinge, but the real hinge is made from the same material as that which holds on the 2 clips that hold it close. Unless the design has changed since I saw the 1st one made, that's how it was.

I need to get something figured out here. Just bought an A/M hood and forgot about how much the police bother me on my local lake.

I got $100 ticket for making a "3ft wake in a no wake zone" ( I was standing and going EXTREMELY slow under a bridge.)

Kraqus, I will probably be making something up similar to what you have, especially since you report that it works well!

The police at our lake house can be a pain in my Nut Sack. Don't they have something better to do than hassle the "jet skiers"

I went a head and ordered the tom 21 hold. Seems like a good design. Happy about it just bolting up instead of having to glass it in. Even if not to hold a fire ex Its great for holding a tow rope and tools maybe some cash for the place on the lake. Will be nice to have a front foot hold to.

Thanks guys

How different is the feeling of a Tom21 or PPF then using a square fire ext. tube and adding some padding? Can you get your foot in tight or is the tube rounded off so it doesn't fit right?

The SN tube can move around if you just use the rubber strap in the center that it comes with. Its also flat on the bottom which you can pad or turf to get tight but it is not as good as the PPFH that has a contour on the underside that allows you to lift your toes up and lock in so much nicer.

I was pretty happy with my SN cannisters until I rode with one of Pete's front footholds on WAB's SN.

I rode Tom21's ski. I think it was the extinguisher holder but it could have been his regular. I'm not completely sure but I think the bottom foot part is the same on both. I felt like it was pretty nice how he had his set up (not sure how it was padded).
