What pitch impellor to run?

Here is my motor setup:


  • Dasa Powervalved 803CC (82MM flat top's, 8MM stroker)
  • Dual 44MM Blackjacks, Riva Intake, Carbon Reeds
  • MSD Total Loss (made pretty by Jetski Solutions)
  • Power Factor Exhaust System
Stock pump and cone. Current impellor is a Solas 14.5/18 (I, J, K & S Series I believe).

Was thinking of a Solas Concord 13/17.

Main goal - all out bottom end for freestyle. ZERO top end runs.

No money for a magnum pump at the moment - still need to pick up a new bike for next race season! :sneaky:

I'm sure one of Impro's hookers will be better than a concord. I might be a bit biased though.... Never liked the concord props. A swirl prop gives an instant snap and everyone says the concord gives a hit after a little bit of lag.

I've never tried the concord on my own ski so I can give it any kind of reasonable review but my theory is... we aren't spending all this money for bottom end power just to put on a prop with a little bit of lag. You wouldn't put minivan tires on a sports car after dropping a turbo in it.

Just keep in my mind, the prop can easily make or break the ski. Based on the reviews of the hooker impeller compared to a concord here http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/37009&highlight=hooker ...I would sell a concord that I already owned just to get the hooker.

I have a 13/17 3mm setback now and its too low pitch - the ski spins up super quick but doesn't bite the water well enough, I'm sure it'll puller a taller prop - I'm going for a hooker - mailed Dave @ Impros on the 23rd Dec asking for him recommendation.

Also if it helps you I tried a stubby pump cone on the above setup in place of the stock one - it was awful - fired it's wad instantly and felt like you were stuck in 1st gear, stock cone is far better.

As does the motor setup, carb setup, ignition timing... blah blah

Gotta love that EVERY aspect of the ski' can be tuned independently from one another and can either make or break a ski.

Anyone else have any input? Haven't done anything yet...
