Custom/Hybrid trim tube size

I have read a lot on the size of the trim tube, but why are people using 1/2 to 3/4 inch tubes. Is there a problem with going smaller? I was thinking of going with a piece of aluminum tube just big enough for the cable to fit though.

Depends on how you seal and hold the cable in place I use 1/2" PVC and in the engine bay I have a seal tight connector attached with a couple to the PVC holding and sealing the cable.

I used 1/2" ID stainless tubing. The diameter needs to be large enough to clear the cable end that fits into the trim lever. If I had a way to recrimp that end back on i could have used my stock siphon tube.

I use seamless 316 stainless steel tubing that was .375" diameter with a .028" wall thickness and its 20 inches long.

You can purchase the tubing at http://www.onlinemetals.com/

Also Pro-Tec sells the same tubing for their trim system for $14.95 and their rubber seal boots are $2.95 each.

There's no need to go any larger than the 3/8-inch size unless you're trying to flood the ski faster when a leak develops.

I got the tube in tonight! I used a piece of aluminum slightly bigger than the siphon tube. I took the siphon tube out and put the new tube in. Thanks for all the help.
