Touring the local pawn shops yesterday I saw them roll out a new arrival. A 2009 Trek 6000 just like the one in this review.

It looks nice and barely used but it it worth $600 that they are asking for it ??

It would be nice to get a bike again, my knees are shot and the gut just gets bigger every winter. This part of FL is absolutely flat but I could still have some fun and maybe get into a shape that is less round.

Way high IMO. List was $880, so probably sold for more like $800, and it's 2 years old now. The components are basic stuff, nothing special at all. I'd say more like $300 would be a fair price as long as it's the right size for you and in good shape.

Thanks.
I'm way out of the loop so I just went on aesthetics. Looked pretty and the impulse was to buy, lucky the brain took over just in time.

I might just pick up a WallyWorld special and abuse it till it dies.

Don't, get something off craigslist for $200, you'll be much happier and can probably sell it for $200 when you're done.

My first bike last year was $200 and was a 99 Gary Fisher, great starter bike.

Went back to that shop today ands they have the bike for $495 now.
Offered one of the workers $400 but he didn't bite. Might go during the week and try again just for fun.

I think thats a solid bike for $400- $450. Don't buy a cheap bike. It will work against you which will take away a lot of fun. Then you'll be less likely to jump on and ride! If the trek works out great! Otherwise, keep your eyes open for a good bike on craigslist!

You really pay for what you get in a bike....

Do you have any "Performance Bike" shops near you? They usually have budget mid-level bikes that are nice....

You also get a warranty with a new bike, which might be worth while.

Be carfull buying a craigslist bike, I would have a knowledgeable friend check it over.

The only bike shops in my area are geared towards the old crowd and beach cruisers or old guys who spend $10,000 on a bike and try to look like Lance.

I got all excited yesterday riding around the parking lot. I was cool.

Might be too big or I'll need to ride with a little helmet on.
