Total loss problem

I have a 93 750 sx with a 750 stroker motor, factory wet pipe, dual 44 red tops, and a 12 vane mag pump. The ski rips, but I had a lightweight charging flywheel in it until it spit out a bendix that chewed up the stator and the flywheel. So I decided to try out a jetinetics Heat total loss that I had laying around. The ski has awesome spark and seems to run well out of the water. But in the water it wont clear out and go. I also noticed that my motor coupler was unthreading. So after reading in another thread that the analog total loss can make the motor run in reverse I was wondering if this is what is going on. Could it be too advanced or too retarded? I guess I will have to get a timing light and take the chamber off and try to time it. I have no Idea where the timing is at now I just left it in the same postion as the previous owner. (Pick up is on the timing cover) Thanks for any help--Jason--

You really need to figure out where the timing is set. Otherwise, you risk destroying that big expensive stroker motor you have. I had success with a mirror and a timing light with the FP chamber attached. You just have to open the inspection hole in the flywheel cover. Before you do that though, you need to rip the whole system out and determine where the static timing is. Where the last owner had it isn't good enough EVER! It's especially not good enough when you have a stroker and the previous owner had a stock stroke.

I'm not that familiar with the jetnetics setup so you'll have to find some instructions or someone that knows about those things. Typically when you change electronics to something new and everything runs right when dry but not in the water, you have a bad coil... However, because you have no idea where you timing is set, you absolutely need to determine that first before you do any kind of troubleshooting if you value your engine.
