Too Much Compression???

First off here is what I am working with.

62t/61x cyl. and cases ported by ProTec
82mm bore
ProTec Cast Head
5mm stroker crank
dual 44's no chokes w/Riva Fa's
Riva Pipe Not sure which one but the manifold is red and waterbox
Stock ignition with lightened flywheel

Ok, I got it sealed up yesterday and did a compression check. Because on ProTec's site it said that the head used with the stroker crank would require race gas. Anyhow I whirled it over on the bench and got 200 psi. in both holes and .054" squish. Now I'm guessing that I'm past the limit of pump gas? If I am can I just add another base gasket to lower it a bit? I would think it would be good for .015-.020". And if not what are my options?

My first action would be to pick up the phone and ask Pro-Tec these questions.
They built the motor, they'll give you better answers than a bunch of jocks on an Internet forum.

Ok, Talked to protec and he said I would nhave to have the combustion chamber opened up to lower the psi. He said an extra base gasket would affect the port timing which I kinda figured but I didn't think that small amount would be that big of a deal. I really didn't want to mess around with having the head machined so I called them back and asked them if I could run a factory head gasket and he said I could as long as the piston has clearance to pass through so I'm gonna give that a shot. He said if it was for a SuperJet he might let the 200 psi. slide cuz the motor wouldn't be getting loaded as much.

Get the domes/head cut by Protec. Duel base gaskets are an air leak waiting to happen. Have it done right the first time because it costs a lot more money to do it again the second. Thats the point at where people say "I should have just done it the first time". You will be much happier when its done right and you wont have to worry about "what if". If you think its 200 psi. now wait till it seats in, and what kind of guage did you use. Tell Protec you want to run pump gas, if they built it they should be able to set it straight.
