Timing advance benefits?

What are the pros/cons of advancing timing 3 degrees on a stock motor? Is it a noticeable difference? Worth pulling the flywheel off for?

I've never tried it on a bone stock engine but I have done it on a stock engine with nothing but a B-pipe and it definitely made a difference in throttle response and how quick the engine revved up.. The only caution is to not do long WOT runs as you will burn a piston. I'm not that kind of rider so it never worried me anyways.
