anyone using the tie down engineering turbo lube hubs?
I bought a pair...
they seem nice, except i got jipped.. they are supposed to be 1" bearings, so i put one on and it was wobbly, and the other was perfect. seems like they packaged one with the 1 1/16" bearings.. ohh well. i'll take it up with west marine later
anyway... before i commit to keeping them, what wheel did you use?
i am having a hard time finding a wheel/rim for them. the hub diameter is LARGE and 5 bolt design... I don't think i want to go to a 13" wheel for my stand up jetski trailer.
my current wheel size is 8" * 5.7" just a nice size for the small trailer, overall it's about an 18" diameter wheel/rim. I also want galvanized wheels too and prefer a 6ply tire.
I could return them and go with the sealed bearing buddy setup (you have to use the rear spindle seal to make it truly effective) if i can't locate a wheel, something 8-12" max.
the turbo lube hubs for those that don't know are a wet bath system, meaning no grease, uses diff. oil and it's pretty much as water proof as you can get. only draw back is finding a wheel to fit it... many great reviews on various websites. usually larger trailers though. also wet bath runs cooler, and has less of a drag effect, not that my setup would see a massive gain since it's small.
just wanted to see if anyone else is using it.
i'm in the process of restoring the trailer. ordered all stainless steel bolts for it, and going to repaint the rails and all. cleaning it up. it's in fanomial shape for 7 years old and being in the salt water. Long Chih Tiwain trailer. MOFO to get parts for it because its so odd ball sized. perfect stand up trailer though.
