Thought Id share: First off waterbox blew up at rave rave so I ran a straight pipe for the weekend, took out the gas tank this weekend but left the return line hooked up and main sitting in the hull, didnt get a chance to put it in so went to throw it in to ride today, 5 gals of gas is sitting in my hull, keep in mind i took out the straight pipe and just had the stinger end of the pipe and the other side of the exhaust hose in, so I pump out all 5 gals and wash most of the gas out with the hose and soapy water, still prob a gal or two towards the back but I figured its mostly water, I put the waterbox in loosely and just for grins start the ski up, well Kaboom and fire, it blows the stiner hose off the pipe and a watery gas mixture flows towards the back of the hull to meet up with the gasy water, luckily I had the hose out, NOT, that barely worked, I pull the hose my ski starts going down the driveway and backs into my roomates car (nice big dent in the fender) ski still on fire, I run and grab my fire extenguisher, that does a poof and its a dud POS, so i throw agaisnt the garage wall and then it goes, ski still on fire, finally I filled the ski to the top and it goes out. Melted cooling and gas lines, most of the outside of the main electrical is melted but salvageable I think, I already pulled the pipe and pretty much everything else. It was crazy never had to deal with fire like that before, so now I have to order fuel filters, new tygon, clean it all out again so dont do what i did!!!!!!!! Im really lucky in a way, luckily I pulled the gas tank out of the return line still connectiong because it started to go up it and the gas tank was 1/4 full and filled with fumes. Im pissed, was gonna ride tonight after class and ride hard till october, now im gonna buy a drysuit for oct.

First off, I am very sorry, that totally sucks and I'm glad nobody got hurt.

But, the mental picture I have in my head of what you are describing is hilarious.

ya I just rambled that story off how it happened, I hope the insurance company covers it like a hit in a parking lot would be. It was pretty crazy tho, never had to deal with a real out of control fire on something I actually cared about, that thing is my life.

I know what you mean. We had a "gasoline accident" a couple years back and you don't realize how scary it actually is until it happens.

really unnecessary for any insurance, I mean its gonna cost a few bucks but mostly just labor and time lost, now with the car I hope that is covered under their own, MI has a no fault insurance even in an accident so it should be all good.

just did another once over, im just cleaning the garage from when I through the extinguisher bomb, bad idea btw. I think all the real elecs are good, somehow it just got the bilge wires alot of cooling line and most fuel, I do need like 2-3 feet of primer line, anyone wanna send some? I think I got enough tygon fuel line. Should I pic up a fuel filter from napa, part number? I had the clear one from JSS which I like alot.

Anyways, this gives me a goos chance to re route my cooling because it was running way too hot so maybe ill do dual while I got the pipe out and I also had to remount a new extinguisher strap and had to pull the ebox for that and was putting that off.
