SXR Broken Handlebar Help

My handlebar pole broke on me this last weekend. I have read around and found that this is a problem with the sxr. The dealership that I bought my ski from is stating that i abused my ski and will not hold true to the warranty. Before I forget this happened on a small lake and the ski is only a year old. I got thrown from the ski and when I swam back the pole was sitting sideways on the hood. the pole also smashed into my hood and cracked the glass, as well as, the pole bracket being destroyed. Has any one seen these problems or had any experience with Kawi warranty dept. I called customer service in California but the guy would not let me get a word in. How can they determine the struceral integeraty of my pole from California when it is in a dealership Michigan. Any help Please...

Dont waste you time with the pole, buy an aftermarket one and never look back!!!! Oh yeah and forget about the warranty, take it as a lesson learned.

It's BS that they won't warranty the pole. They have known that they are pieces of chit all the way back to 1992 and they haven't changed them yet!!

Cheap way: buy a 750 pole on ebay (spray paint it) and buy an SXR bracket from a dealer. (The problem is...you could break it again tomorrow!). I broke 5 kawi poles, and 4 brackets over the years. This will cost you about $350.

Expensive way, but good FOREVER: Call X Metalworks and get a -2 inch aluminum handlepole ,bushings, Superjet bracket, & a pole pad with a Kawi conversion shortened steering system. It'll cost about $845 total, but its got an awesome warranty and you'll have WAYY better steering!

They dont warranty that kind of thing. The only handlepoles I have seen break have been abused./quote]

Translation: Ridden by a p*ssy.

Hmmmm...abusing your ski makes you a p*ssy?

The poles were shet when they were 750SX too, I broke mine racing coves I guess a little too much abuse. Maybe one too many wipeouts.

is the boat still under warranty?
if so,get lawyer to write nice letter as kawi's warranty does not exclude breakage of fiberglass parts unless due to abuse(they need to prove that)
poles have been a weak point since 92 sx.

Follow korn's advice and get the X-Metal. It's hella awesome.

I have two stock SX-R poles in my garage if you get desperate.

The dust settles

Well, lucky me. My ski was under my home insurance and they are covering it. I am going to do the work my self after the local dealership pushed me around and was no help at all. I am guessing they have only touched a hand full of these stand up skis over the past couple of years and the RO was insane. They wanted to replace way to much stuff. This included the turn plate, spring, both foam floats, the black handlebar pads, the fire extinguisher bushings? , the list goes on .. I only broke the pole which smashed into the hood and caused a little crack. the good thing is that I am getting the check cut to myself so i will be getting a after market pole and some other rockin stuff. The weekend that this happened we were getting 10' waves in lake Michigan. Which i just happened to be in the middle of. The only lesson that i have learned through this is next time buy a SUPERJET!
