Super Jet Superjet 6M6 Piston chipped

Bought a 6m6 equipped 94 Jet day before yesterday, didn't do a compression test (traded my 93 750sx fully modified) like I should have and kind of took his work as it being a weak spark issue. Popped off the head when I got home and BAM, I'm a dumbass... (and the seller is a member on this site...)

It was sold to me as a previous Group K big bore setup (701cc) with a full port job. Well, no porting, and it sits at 77.5mm. Checked the cylinder and it's fine, may get away with just replacing the piston and rings, but I'm tempted to find a used 701 for cheap instead.

Question is, does the 650 ebox work fine with the 701's? It has an old purple RIVA adjustable CDI, with the small potentiometer on the back. First Yami I've ever owned, this is really disappointing. Have yet to inform him of what I've found, so I'll refrain from putting him on blast in the case we trade back (longshot eh?) Any and all help is appreciated...

i hate to say it but you need to completely dismantle the motor and inspect.

something went through. caould be something external, or a crank bearing, etc. you need to do a full on inspection, and replace all worn / bad parts....

if it is a 650 motor, it may be a good time to go to a 701. you can run your 650 electrics & starter on a 701. you will need a 701 intake / reed assy. and the exh manifold for a 701 is different. if you go with a 61x 701 you can reuse your 650 carb. if you go 62t 701 you will need dual carbs.

Appreciated Zig. Pretty convinced I'll be going 701 regardless. The package came with a twin manifold with two CDK2 38mm carbs in red (odd, I've had 42mm in blue from Sudco, never seen red... What price should I expect to pay for a short block around this time? Thanks...

Seller won't talk over phone. Seems like he's playing games. I looked under the turf, waterlogged, seriously soaked and a bad patch job on the tray. Whether he knew this or not I'm not sure. But I'd expect him to make it right.

thought 1994 was first year for 701(with single 44mm), 1993 and previous had 650 (6M6). if it is a 94 hull with 6m6 somebody scrounged the 701 before you got it. cheapest temp fix may be to drop in 701 top end then take your time and fine a good 701 shortblock, if you're willing to fight thru thru the hull repair issues. sorry to see you get a bad deal.

Appreciated. Disassembled a fresh 760 today just to be sure and replace the seals. I need a coil now too it seems even the boots are bad. I tore further into the tray and removed 34.6 pounds of wet foam. X-30 went in after I sealed the inner bondline with 5200 slow cure. Took the stator and flywheel from the 6m6 and will mount them to the 62t when theyre sealed up. Only parts I need now are 44 carbs, coil, boots, intake and full exhaust from manifold to stinger. And to know this idiot is a member on this site. Ballsy to make a bad local deal.

Theres a thread for that. And moderators that ban for posts outside of the tos. Ill handle it locally, and to protect other members from issues ill start the thread in the negative feedback section. Feel free to PM me for more detail.
