What is a good waterproof sunscreen? What have you guys used before that works all (or most of the) day? Coppertone? Bullfrog? I rode for about 3 hours on Sunday and got [EVIL]FRIED[/EVIL]. I don't like to wear a shirt in the water but I believe that I may on the 4 th.

Any sunscreen works, the brand does not really matter, the main ingredients are the same unless it's something from these guys. My wife works in the industry.

I use some coppertone spray ( 30 spf) spray is easier for ME and the kids, they dont have to rub or hold still, I just chase them and spray them.

I also use coppertone stick, it looks like giant chapstick on my face.
I think its either 30 or 50 spf.

I have to reapply every hour or so though, when im in the water.

Rash guard shirt does wonders, and if you keep it damp, it acts like a wearable swamp cooler. You'll feel about 20 degrees cooler than without it. Works even better with a breeze. Still have to cover your face with sunscreen even with the rashguard, obviously. Get one made of microfiber, those wick and cool the best. Otherwise, reapply sunscreen frequently.

I did some research lately, then went and bought some Neutrogena for sensitive skin 30 block (anything 15+ is basically the same). This stuff has 9.1% titanium dioxide (higher than what I saw in Bullfrog). We all used it Sunday, and none of us burned.

Coppertone sport, in the blue bottle. Kroger sells an equivalent that is much cheaper too, in a similar blue bottle. I couldn't tell you the last time I burned.

thats the same stuff I use Jett. At this point in the summer I am usually dark enough that I don't burn though. I just use it so I don't get cancer.

I really like that stuff too, but if you rub it in too much, it starts drying up, and makes those little black ball thingys that remind me of of the adhesive a sticker leaves me behind...

I really like the Coppertone spray stuff. Works great.

I mainly ride in the ocean, so I'm usually covered up with the wetsuit, but when I'm at the lake, I wear a UV shirt... not much difference between that and a rash guard. The one I have has a cool rubber/elastic band around the bottom of the shirt, so it stays down, and doesn't ride up while wearing it under your life vest. I have used other shirts, and when they ride up, you still get burnt on the small of your back.

A rashguard or some type of longsleeve NON-cotton top works best for the upper body. I try to use the SPF 40-50 stuff on the face.

Mr. 80 SPF Sunblock Wearer
Bud Light presents: Real Men of Genius [Real Men of Genius]

Today we salute you, Mr. 80 SPF Sunblock Wearer. [Mr. 80 SPF Sunblock Wearer]

There are 24 hours in a day; you are wearing 80 hour protection. If the sun fails to go down, you’ll be ready. [don’t forget the moonlight]

Your coconut scented force-field blocks out all the suns rays, …and stray rays from another sun…in another galaxy.

30 SPF, please. You might as well be wearing cooking oil. (something smells delicious)

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, Mr. 80 SPF Sunblock Wearer. In fact, feel free to crack one open at high noon…in the middle of the Sahara Desert. [Mr. 80 SPF Sunblock Wearer]

:haha:

interesting stuff. I think Mike Adams was a little over the top but he did make some reasonable points. sounds like uva could be a major issue. I am pretty sure I have seen some stuff in the stores that say they protect against uva. I would be fine with more natural form of sun block with out all the extra junk they through in.

Then you have found a wrong use for it...
Sunscreen is actually more likely to be the cause of melanoma.

Best I have used is Water Babies 45. It's runnier than the sport lotions so it's easier to apply. I usually apply once at the beginning of the day and stay out for 4 hours and the sun has never bothered me. The only problem I have had with it is that I forgot to put it on on day, and after comming out of the salt, I couldn't rub it in.

I couldn't find any so I got some coppertone sport 45 (I think 45). It works good too. I like the water babies better tho.

I rember reading that you need one with both UVA and UVB protection. And the sun disinagrates both UVA/UVB chemmicals within 2hrs, and this was something like SPF 50
