Stubby pump cone

I have 2. One on a solas mag pump and the other on a 140mm Kawi Pump.

On My Kawi 140mm, I can say that improvement was very minior on my application, Infact really no feel or seat of the pants factor at all.

*But, Used In conjuction with a properly set up pump ( assuming a stock kawi pump here) the cone helps with the low end pop or holeshot. However you lose some top speed. While combined with a swirl impeller such as a hooker or skat style along with a scoop intake grate i felt it was worth the money and upgrade. I did also have it with a ocean pro reduction nozzle. All of these pump add ons were progressive, that being said the cone was the first step for me. And I did not see the gain or hype surrounding it. Now with the rest of the pump package it was night and day difference on that ski.

The other aftermarket pump cone I have is currently on my SOLAS 140mm ( yes 140mm MAG-Solas ) on my polaris octane. I believe it is the same sytle cone/cap that fits a 144 yami pump. This I Can Feel the lower pop. This may be more noticeable since its the mag style.. I have switched back and forth between the stock solas cone and the wet wolf a few times. I personally like the wetwolf. I use it on the octane along with a D-Cut stock ride plate to chase boats with and play around on wakes. The octane is a big pig of a ski but it is a improvement in my book. For speed and racing aroung ( octane haters can debate that is not a race ski, yes it turns like a school bus..) I run a longer worx plate and the stock solas cone for top speed. Regards -JW

I am also in the process of setting up another stock Kawi 140mm pump with the R&D afterburner core sleeve and cone with a swirl impeller. I should be able to review come spring if you want to start a new review page for this product, R&D also make them for Yamaha 144 pumps, infact I have not yet seen/read a dedicated review for one of these kits here on the x yet. I know there are quite a few guys using them, such as the fx mafia crew.

I installed a stubby cone when I assembled my solas 144. I cant compare it much to the stock one that comes with the pump because I haven't used it. I do know that it seemed to be a little better when I had a bored nozzle on my ski

It is one of many tuning options on a pump. It unloads the prop in much the same way as a bigger nozzle diameter. It can hurt or help a setup depending on prop and motor and timing and pipe.

If put on a stock setup it will give more bottom end because the prop can spin up faster. That will hurt the top speed some but in freestyle skis we don't care.

I have solas mag 144 w/ 9/15 hooker and mostly stock engine 710cc w/ stock mild head and standard bolt-ons, MSD & lighten Flywheel,b pipe. Once I put the the stubby, it made a huge difference, as the cavitation disappeared in the low end.
