Stripped bolt hole on factory pipe exhaust manifold

So I've got a stripped hole on my Factory Pipe exhaust manifold, the one on the inside nearest the cylinder. I bought a 10 x 1.25 tap and tried cleaning the threads and using a longer bolt but it won't tighten down. Can I drill and tap it with the next standard size? If so what would be the next size? Or should I tap it with an 11mm, it think that size is hard to find though.

This happen to anyone else?

time sert it.im lucky enough that this place is 10 mins away from me. i have used their kit numerous times with great success. thay have stainless serts aswell

X2... i time serted one of mine with the 10x1.25 kit... had no threads left at all on my cylinder side hole. has held up with no problems so far.

You have to drill with a 9/16 bit for the insert. There's Enough room for that?

OK, thanks. I got one ordered and should have it tomorrow, they didn't have the fine thread in stock. Hopefully all goes well.

NO they didn't have the 1.25. That is what is coming tomorrow.
