Starter question?

I just took my stator cover off to check everything out inside!
Does everything seem normal/good shape?? I never have taken apart this before so I do not know what to look for??

Is there any places I should apply grease to the starter bendix thing?? what type of grease??

I did notice some black nasty stuff on the inside wall but nothing on any of the parts?

Why did you even take it apart if you've never done it and dont know what your looking at/for?
